Socorro Police Blotter
TIP JAR STOLEN – Police responded to an alarm at Blake’s Lottaburger at 3:14 a.m. on November 19. The manager was able to see the tip jar was missing. The officer was able to look at the video of the incident. The officer noticed a male enter through the glass door and jump over the counter and grab the jar and leave. The officer was unable to identify the male due to his face being covered.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY – A resident on Pena Street reported to police damage to her property. The resident showed police a large hole in her window. The cost to replace the window was estimated at $100.
STABBING – A victim living on Buena Vista reported to police he was stabbed with a pocketknife because he refused to do drugs with Tyler Burgoon, 23, of Socorro on November 20. The victim did have injuries to his legs. Domestic violence - battery, and charges have been filed against Burgoon.
VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION – Charles Valenzuela 41, of Socorro was charged with five counts each of violation of order of protection; criminal trespass/not posted; domestic violence – assault, aggravated; aggravated burglary; and false imprisonment after an incident that occurred on S. Sixth Street at 3:27 p.m. on November 22.
FORCED ENTRY – A business at 112 Plaza Street in Socorro, reported that an unknown suspect forced their entry into the business on November 22. The suspects took several items of clothes, cash from the registers and a handgun. The officer obtained a serial number for the handgun and entered it into the National Crime Information Center’s database.
OUTSTANDING WARRANT – Stevie J Bernal, 31, of Socorro, was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 6;15 p.m. on November 22. She also was found in possession of narcotics. The female was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
EMBEZZLEMENT OF A VEHICLE – Rhiannon Saavedra, 43, of Socorro, was charged with not returning a borrowed vehicle from a victim on lives on Montoya Place on November 23. The victim told police they lent the vehicle to Saavedra, and she was supposed to return it on the following day. The victim told police the vehicle had not been returned after two days. The victim said he had been unable to get in touch with Saavedra and wanted charges for embezzlement filed again her. They signed a theft declaration, and the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center’s database.
HARASSMENT – Alvin Bruton, 41, of Socorro, was charged with two counts each of harassment and aggravated assault while disguised after he entered the Circle K store, 924 S. highway 85, at 12:35 a.m. on November 23. According to the victim, Burton entered the store making threats to harm the victim. He had a pipe behind his back and had his face covered.
DOGS RUNNING LOOSE – Officers were called to Granada Street where residents reported several dogs were running loose and chasing a victim on November 23. The officer witnessed the dogs come out of yard and start chasing another female. The officer contacted the dog’s owners and asked if the dogs had rabies shots. The suspect said not recently. The suspect was cited to appear in court.
OUTSTANDING WARRANT – Jaslyn S. Apachito, 23, of Alamo, was arrested on an outstanding warrant as well as possession of a controlled substance at 6:36 p.m. on November 23. She was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
DOG KILLED – A resident on Century Circle reported 4:43 p.m. on November 23, their neighbor’s dog attacked her small dog and killed it. Charges are pending.
TWO ARRESTED – Two individuals with active warrants during a search at 310 Grant Street in Socorro on November 23. Scott Foulenfont, 32, of Socorro, and Amy Mendoza, 32, also of Socorro, were both charged with controlled substance (trafficking), tampering with evidence and three outstanding warrants. Police were called to the resident about a male suspect with an active warrant. During the arrest, police heard a noise and found Mendoza hiding. She dropped an item containing narcotics. The metal container had her name on it and contained fentanyl. Both individuals were taken and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
BRIBERY OF PUBLIC OFFICER/EMPLOYEE – Jose Andy Anaya, 36, of Socorro, was charged with four counts of bribery of a public officer/employee, tall/license plate light required, driving while license suspended or revoked, and an active warrant on November 23. Police stopped Anaya at the corner of Highway 85 and B Street, and he was arrested on an active warrant and a revoked driver’s license. While obtaining medical attention, Anaya offered the officer his red dirt bike to be let go.
UNLAWFULLY CARRYING A DEADLY WEAPON – Ian Pleshette, 66, of Socorro, was charged after an incident at John Brooks Super Mart on November 24. According to the police report, Pleshette was arguing with a staff at the grocery store after being asked to leave a backpack at the entrance. Pleshette declined to leave the backpack, due to having a gun inside the backpack. When officers confronted Pleshette, they found a handgun concealed in his waist band. Pleshette had an expired concealed and carry permit. The gun was taken as evidence and charges are pending.
BREAK IN – A resident on Alta Vista called police concerning a break in that occurred at their home on November 24. The victim showed police a dresser that had its drawers pulled out and the contents thrown on the floor. The victim provided a list of three items taken. The victim told police there was no forced entry and named individuals who had a key to the home. There are no suspects.
SHOPLIFTING – Walmart reported a shoplifter that was in possession of $31 worth of merchandise after an incident on November 24. The merchandise was recovered and the suspect cited and released.
BUILDING DAMAGE – Officers were called to 305 Abeyta Ave. at 3:30 p.m. on November 24 about damage to their building. Police were shown damage to the building by the owner who valued the damage at $500. A possible suspect was named.
DOOR DAMAGE – A business at 512 highway 85, reported damage to their building at 4 p.m. on November 24. The manager showed police damage to a security door, estimated at $1,200.
BATTERY – Julianna Quintana, 36, of Socorro was charged with battery after a fight ensued at midnight on November 25, at 1103 N. California Street, where the victim worked. When the victim exited the building, Quintana exited her vehicle and struck the victim. The victim told police she was being watched by Quintana, because she is now dating the victim’s ex-boyfriend and father of the victim’s child.
VEHICLE BREAK IN - At 8:37 p.m. on November 25, a resident on Skylark, reported to police she heard a loud noise outside her residence and found two large rocks near the broken window on her car. Currently there are no suspects.
SCHOOL WINDOWS BROKEN - Two windows at Socorro Middle School were reported broken at 11 a.m. on November 25. The caller was able to review video of someone shining a light through the doors at 9:37 p.m. on November 24. Damage was estimated at more than $1,500. No suspects have been identified.
BRINGING IN CONTRABAND – Jose Andy Anaya, 36, of Socorro, who was arrested on November 23, was charged on 11:41 a.m. on November 25 for additional charges while confined in the Socorro County Detention Center. While being moved by the jail staff, a staff member saw pieces of pills in the suspect’s cell. A scan of Anaya found pills located in his underwear and socks. The pills were recovered by the staff and turned over to police to be logged into evidence. Additional charges against him include three counts each of trafficking-controlled substances with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into places of confinement.
ATTEMPT TO STEAL MOTOR VEHICLE – Rodgers Aryamanya, 23, of Las Vegas, NM, was charged with two counts of battery and attempt to commit unlawful taking of a motor vehicle at 10:49 p.m. at Circle K Gas Station at 924 S. Highway 85, Socorro, on November 26. Officer were dispatch to the gas station where they were told a male was pushing a female from her vehicle and trying to take it. The victim told police that male suspect could not leave because it was a push button start, and she had the keys on her. Aryamanya was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
