Socorro Police Blotter
HARRASSMENT – An officer was called to San Miguel Street in response to a harassment call. The reporting person stated he had been receiving messages from his ex-wife accusing him of stealing jewelry from her. The reporting person said his ex-wife had been making threats of physical violence towards his girlfriend to retrieve her jewelry. The reporting person wanted the incident documented due to him planning on getting a restraining order against his ex-wife. The officer met with the ex-wife who stated she will resort to physical violence to retrieve her jewelry and didn’t care if she got arrested. The incident took place at 6:24 p.m. on April 21.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY – Charlie Mexicano, 54, of Socorro, was charged with aggravated battery after an incident on Meek Street on April 21. The victim told police Mexicano struck him in the face with a brick while he was cleaning a yard and he wanted to press charges.
ASSAULT AGAINST HOUSEHOLD MEMBER – Daniel J. Yanecko, 45, of Socorro, was arrested 8 p.m. on April 21 during an incident involving marijuana theft. The victim told police Yanecko was verbally abusive to her after he accused her of taking his marijuana. The victim stated the suspect damaged her TV and the door frame of her bedroom by kicking it in. She also told officers he threatened to kill her multiple times. The suspect had left when police initially arrived but returned to the home. After a brief struggle he was placed under arrest and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center. He was charged with four counts of assault against a household member and four counts of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY – Miguel Sedillo, 25, of Socorro, was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property and two counts of assault after an incident at 808 Highway 60 at 11:30 a.m. on April 22. The victim stated she visited the suspect’s home to pick up her clothing when the two began fighting over clothes. The victim left and she told police the suspect began throwing rocks at her vehicle.
SHOPLIFTING – Rosemary Chavez, 46, of Socorro was charged with criminal trespass and shoplifting at Walmart at 7:55 p.m. on April 23. The caller advised police Chavez was caught shoplifting merchandise from the store and provided police with a receipt for $67. She was placed under arrest and taken to Socorro General Hospital for medical observation.
BATTERY – Caleb Roper, 18, of Socorro, was charged with two counts of battery and criminal trespass each after an incident at 10:29 p.m. on April 23. Officers were called to a motel at 1009 North California Street concerning two males riding bikes in a parking lot and one of the males punching the manager of the motel after the they were told to leave.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Vanessa Emord, 30, of Socorro was charged with criminal trespass after an incident at 9:52 a.m. April 23 at 609 Bagley Street in Socorro. Emord was told to leave the property and not return; however, she returned two hours later and was arrested.
BREAKING AND ENTERING – Neswood Adam Baca, 27, of Socorro was charged with two counts each of domestic violence – battery, aggravated, breaking and entering as well as having a warrant for his arrest after an incident at 2:29 a.m., April 25, on Arroya Drive. Officers were called to a home for a male possibly choking a female victim. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Barney F. Garcia, 53, of Socorro was charged with criminal trespass/not posted in reference to an incident on April 25 at John Brooks Super Mart.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – Kaleb Vanlandingham, 41, of San Antonio, was charged with four counts each of aggravated assault and aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, after an incident at 3:53 p.m., April 25 on Cassity Lane. Vanlandingham also has several out-of-state warrants for his arrest.
FIREARMS IN POSSESSION OF A FELON – An officer made a traffic stop at the corner of Hope Farms Road and Otero Street at 11:06 a.m. on April 25. The officer met with the driver and noticed drug paraphernalia. The office made the male exit the vehicle. The driver admitted to having a gun in the vehicle and said he was a convicted felon. Arrested was Henry L. Sanchez, 28, of Socorro, on two counts of firearms or destructive devices; receipt, transportation or possession by a felon; as well as two counts of defective and improper equipment.
HIT WITH ROCK – An officer was dispatched on April 27, to 831 Lucero, for a male who was hit with a rock by a female. While the officer was speaking to the male, a female suspect approached. When the officer tried to detain the female, she resisted. Arrested was Beth M. Martinez, 41, of Socorro on two charges each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and battery on a peace officer.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY – Charlie Mexicano, 54, of Socorro, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on April 27, after an incident at 803 Spring Street. An officer was dispatched to the residence for a male hit with a rock. The officer met with the male who had a large lump on his head. EMTs transported the male to Socorro General Hospital. The officer located Mexicano where they arrested him and transported him to the Socorro County Detention Center.
REVOKED LICENSE – An officer stopped a motorcycle near the Fairgrounds Road for a traffic infraction at 8:49 a.m., April 27. The individual did not have any paperwork on him, thus ran his information through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database where they found his driver’s license had been suspended. The individual received a citation, and his motorcycle was towed.
BREAK IN – An officer was called to a break in at 119 Faulkner on April 28. When the officer arrived, the victim said when she came home, she noticed someone run out of her residence and meet up with a vehicle parked up on the next road. The victim stated she believes the suspect entered her residence through the garage. The victim stated there were multiple items taken from the home. The officer was list of items taken from the home as well as a video from the victim.
SHOPLIFTING – Julianna Jake, 31, of Magdalena, was charged with two counts of shoplifting and two counts of criminal trespass, not posted after an incident on April 28 at 1006 N. California Street. An officer witnessed Jake place items in a bag. The officer had Jake her empty her bag, where he found several items. The officer also located more items concealed in the suspect’s waist band. The items turned over were valued at $78.05.
MONEY STOLEN – Police received a call from an individual on Avenida Ladera on April 29, who stated $5,000 hidden under a mattress was taken from his home by a former roommate. The roommate was contacted by police but denied taking the money.
WARRANT – Brian Tayofa, 35, of Socorro, was arrested on an outstanding warrant as well as resisting, evading or obstructing a police officer at 9:45 p.m., April 30 on Blue Canyon Road.
