MRS. FRANK MARTIN, retired principal of Zimmerly School, was honored by the Socorro Garden Club, who presented her with an aralia tree in appreciation of her years of dedication to the development of the children of Socorro. Mrs. Martin was in the school system of Socorro for 22 years and was principal of Zimmerly School for approximately 10 years. The presentation of the tree was made by garden club president, Mrs. Clay Smith, who pointed out that many members of the club were also parents of Mrs. Martin’s former pupils and, therefore, were aware of her efforts in nurturing their children’s esthetic appreciation, as well as their intellectual growth. The tree will remain at the school in Mrs. Martin’s name.

The two were crowned to the applause of their fellow students. They will preside over a week’s worth of homecoming festivities. This year’s event features several changes from past years, including the early coronation and the crowning of a king.
