New Mexico Tech Dining will host its third annual Comic Con at the Fidel Center on Friday, April 25.

“It’s become a much-anticipated event for the campus and community alike,” Kayla Botko, event organizer, said. “It’s been incredible to see how much it has grown over the years. We now have vendors who look forward to it annually, and both our vendor count and overall participation have increased tremendously."

The event is open to the public and invites students, staff, and local residents to explore fandoms, support small businesses, and enjoy engaging activities. Highlights of the event include a diverse array of local vendors, with several traveling from Albuquerque. Attendees can look forward to small businesses showcasing handmade crafts, unique collectibles, food trucks and cosplay.

“These are all small businesses that specialize in handmade crafts, unique art, and creative goods. The dining hall will be completely transformed with themed decorations to bring the event to life and make the space feel immersive and exciting,” Botko said.

Botko said event staff will be dressed up, and participants are welcome to dress up as well.

“There’s no specific theme, so we encourage everyone to come in whatever costume they’d like. We love seeing the creativity and variety—it’s one of the best parts of the event,” Botko said.

She described the Comic-Con as a fun, high-energy celebration of pop culture, creativity, and community.

She said the NMT Comic-Con is a welcoming space, perfect for someone who has never visited one.

“We’ve received amazing feedback from past events,” Botko said, “It’s become something people really look forward to, and the excitement has only grown. We’re thrilled to see how much the campus and community are engaging with it.”
