County Fair begins Aug. 28
“Country Pride, Country Wide” is the theme of the 2024 Socorro County Fair.
The fair will highlight local talent with everything from sopapillas to pickles, peaches to woodburning, weaving to blacksmithing and zinnias to fudge.
4-H and FFA participants will showcase all their hard work raising animals. The schedule is packed with fair favorites such as the chainsaw competition, parade and rodeo, plus a new addition to the fair, a cornhole tournament.
“Us as a board, we’re running around trying to button up the odds and ends, but it’s all coming along good,” Nathan Ritter, county fair board president, “I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a good one this year. We have a lot of kids participating.”
Longtime supporters and county fair participants, Johnny Ray and Shannon Mounyo have been named at this year’s Grand Marshal.
