Easter is ageless
Socorro Library kids ages two to four teamed up with four groups of little ones from the local head start for the annual Easter event and egg hunt on Thursday, April 17.
The children amassed to decorate bags at 10:30 during the library’s usually scheduled story time program. Soon after, they were in hot pursuit of eggs, including two coveted prize eggs, distinguished only by their large size and gold coloring.
Afterwards the little egg hunters took a break to enjoy their findings and explore books relating to bunnies, eggs and other Easter themes.
“I like the idea of having a community space for the kids where they can feel involved in an activity and then get books that tie literacy into the activity,” Library Director Chelsea Jones, said.
Proving that Easter fun doesn’t have an age limit, the Socorro Senior Center was hopping with around 40 elders, music by the band Suavecito, a car show hosted by the Socorro Old Car Club, and a hunt for 200 eggs, some with cash prizes attached.
“It was a full house,” Director Linda Mares said. “Our seniors are special, and we try our best to keep them active. We treat them like family.”
