IT TOOK NINE MONTHS to create what may be the most recognizable song in the world this year in “Uptown Funk.” It did not take nearly as long for Socorro High School graduate Jeff Bhasker and others involved with the Mark Ronson song that features Bruno Mars to realize they’d made something special. His work on the song was soon rewarded. The song received a Grammy nomination for record of the year. Bhasker is listed among the nominees as a co-producer. Bhasker also received a Grammy nomination for producer of the year (non-classical). Bhasker graduated from Socorro High School in 1993. He attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and worked in New York before moving to Los Angeles.
