September was National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness month. Green ribbons and green balloons were on display at the SHS football game Friday, Sept. 26, to raise awareness and show support for people with spinal cord injuries.

Socorro Cheer Coach Breann Wheeler was recognized throughout the evening at the SHS stadium for the challenges she faces. She was injured in a car accident in December of 2023.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown support for me during this challenging time in my life. I am incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community that believes in my ability to recover and walk again. I want to give a huge shoutout to my family for their unwavering support and commitment to my recovery. They have been my rock throughout this journey, and their encouragement and assistance have made a significant difference in my progress. My girls have been an incredible source of motivation and support, making coaching a much more enjoyable and fulfilling experience for me. They are always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, and their presence in my life has been truly amazing. Thank you.” Wheeler said.
