Warriors Wear Pink set to raise funds for breast cancer patients
The Warriors Wear Pink nonprofit will host its second annual 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Socorro Rodeo & Sports Complex, continuing its mission to support breast cancer patients in New Mexico.
Founded in 2024 by De’jiah Molina, Warriors Wear Pink was inspired by Molina’s personal experience supporting her mother, Teresa Molina, through breast cancer. The organization aims to assist medically underserved, uninsured, and underprivileged patients and their families, offering financial relief and emotional support.
“When De’jiah’s mother was battling breast cancer, their family faced serious financial challenges,” said Chelsea Jones, one of the event organizers. “It was the generosity of our community that helped them cover medical costs and household bills. That experience is what inspired De’jiah to start Warriors Wear Pink—to make sure no one has to go through that alone.”
Jones’ mother is also a breast cancer survivor, and said the cause resonates with her.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the run starting at 9 a.m. Early registration is open through Oct. 18, with fees ranging from $5 for children to $15 for adults. Seniors and students receive discounted rates and breast cancer fighters and survivors may participate free of charge. Day-of registration will include a $5 fee increase across all age groups.
“This event provides a space for fighters, survivors, and family members to share stories and remember those we have lost,” said Jones.
All proceeds and donations will be collected and distributed by Molina to benefit breast cancer patients across New Mexico. Donations are welcome even from those not participating in the run.
