In its third special meeting in two weeks, the Socorro school board discussed an undisclosed threat of litigation in executive session on July 8.

All school board members and interim superintendent Aubrey Tucker were in attendance. The board voted to go into executive session. After about 45 minutes, they voted to return to regular session, followed by an adjournment.

No statements or information was given about the litigation.

Two weeks ago, in a special meeting after an executive session on June 24, the board voted unanimously to rescind Ron Hendrix’s 2024/2025 superintendent contract extension. No statements were made about the decision.

On June 27, a special meeting to discuss an interim superintendent led to Tucker’s recommendation. Tucker officially began serving as interim on July 1.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on July 15. Tucker said there would be another executive session at that meeting. The meeting is open to the public and can be attended online through a link on the school website.
