Get ready to vote in this year’s election
It’s that time again … when voters head to the polls to cast their vote for their selected candidate.
So, here’s some dates to keep in mind when getting ready to vote.
The last day to register to vote in Socorro County is Tuesday, October 8, by 5 p.m.
Early voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 8 to November 1, at the Socorro County Clerk’s office, 200 Church Street. And on one Saturday – November 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Early voting at alternative sites includes the Magdalena Senior Citizen Center, 500 9th Street, in Magdalena. Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 21 to November 1 and on Saturday, November 2, from10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Absentee ballots will be available beginning on Tuesday, October 8. Absentee applications will be accepted through Tuesday, October 22.
Socorro County Clerk Betty Saavedra said there will no in-person voting on Monday, October 14. All Socorro County offices will be closed in observance of Indigenous People’s Day.
Finally, same day registration will be available in the county clerk’s office starting on Tuesday, October 8.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.
