It’s Pie Time!
It is the time of year when Pie aficionados from all over will gather for the 42nd annual Pie Festival in Pie Town this weekend.
The festivities will commence with a special fundraising dinner followed by live music, setting the stage for an eventful weekend. Saturday morning, folks can shake off any indulgence by participating in the 3.14-mile PiK run/walk, which winds along the stunning continental divide.
Throughout the day, plenty of family-friendly activities will be enjoyed, including the highly competitive pie-eating contest, live entertainment, vendors, live music, a horse show, and an exciting horned toad race.
“We’ve had people come all over the world for the Pie Festival, actually, and they will meet here in Pie Town and just enjoy the day,” Penny Carroll, co-coordinator of the Pie Festival.
New this year will be the opportunity to buy a Pie Flight.
“It’s like a beer flight or wine flight. You can purchase the pie flight and pays for all four slices for $5 and then they can kind of see what they want to buy,” Carroll said.
Carroll didn’t admit to any secret pie recipes but recommends that first-time pie competitors check the website and check the rules posted online before entering.
