Catron County Judge suspended
Catron County’s Magistrate Judge, Hon. Susan E. Griffin has been temporarily suspended without pay effective immediately according to an order from the Supreme Court of New Mexico dated February 5.
In a petition for the permanent removal from judicial office, filed on November 18, 2024, the Judicial Standards Commission found that respondent Judge Griffin’s testimony in many respects was not credible, that she demonstrated a continuing pattern of misconduct, abused her judicial position for personal gain, knowingly and willfully created a fraudulent document for personal gain and her actions caused a definite negative effect on court personnel.
The petition stated: “This was not just one transaction but consisted of multiple instances of improper behavior over a period of time that included multiple occurrences in multiple counties with judges, court personnel, AOC personnel, as well as before the Commission, which demonstrated a continuous series of deceit and misconduct.”
An oral argument is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025.
