Helen Camero 1951-2024

Helen Camero

Born Helen Christine Lopez, December 5, 1951, in Socorro New Mexico, and she passed away peacefully at home in Los Lunas, NM, December 26, 2024.

Helen was preceded in death by her grandparents: “Nana”(Ramona Lopez) and “Tata”(Donaciano Lopez), by her parents: Nestor and Cecila Gonzales, brothers: Jacob and Able Gonzalez, and many more family members. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Luis R. Camero, her six children: Donna South (Joe), Richard Padilla (Emily), Kathy Berger (Fred), Alexis Camero (Jaime), Samantha Connell (Jonathan), Luis R (Bobby) Camero II, her nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Helen was raised and heavily influenced by “Nana” and “Tata.”

Her childhood was a pampered one, and it was said her birthday parties were the best in the neighborhood.

As a young mother, she enjoyed studying and practicing cosmetology.

She was beautiful and always looked her best. She was a young mother who sacrificed much early on, for her children to be successful. She was a born saleswoman. She was a telemarketer during the 90’s and always earned rewards for Top Sales. During her career, she sold everything, all sorts of merchandise. She always had her side hustle to make ends meet. To her children, she was the only person known to sell furniture competitively as if it was a sport.

She was our matriarch, she was our cornerstone, she was the link between our future and our past, she was at her best, a wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had an infectious laugh and an unwavering love for her family.

She will be greatly missed.
