Mahler will continue as admin for CLLA
The County Livestock Loss Authority (CLLA) voted to keep the CLLA Administrator, Deborah Mahler, in her position since her appointment as Catron County manager. Mahler had been serving as interim manager since January after the departure of Loren Cushman.
Catron County Commissioner and CLLA Board President Audrey McQueen said Mahler had been doing a good job as interim manager and they decided to offer her the permanent position.
“I wanted to make sure before we did that that the board was okay with it,” McQueen said.
Socorro County’s Representative on the CLLA board, Danny Monette, asked Mahler how she felt about doing both jobs.
“I’m emotionally invested in the CLLA. I want it to succeed, but Catron County has a need that I think I can fulfill, and I feel I’m able to adequately do both and be successful,” Mahler said. “I would also request that if you, as a board, feel that I, as your administrator, am not necessarily meeting your expectations, to let me know, and you know, we can improve or modify things.”
The CLLA board also approved the use of Dominici Law Firm for legal services. The report status of the 2023 conflict avoidance formula and proposed payments made by Mahler and John Oakleaf was postponed to their regular meeting.
The next regular meeting was scheduled for July 24 at 10 a.m. in Reserve
