200 block B

Officers responded to the scene for a 911 hang-up call. The officers found the male suspect outside and made contact. The male was intoxicated and advised he was in an argument with his girlfriend, and she left. The officer began checking the area and did not find the female.

The officer observed the male driving a vehicle in the area and followed the male suspect to his residence. The officer activated his emergency lights to stop the suspect. The suspect parked and exited the vehicle and began walking to the home. The officer advised the suspect to stop, but he continued. The officer drew his department-issued Taser and gave commands.

The suspect was stopped and placed in handcuffs. The suspect was taken to a patrol car, where the suspect refused to enter. The suspect was taken to a second car and placed inside. The suspect was taken to the police department, where the suspect was asked to complete field sobriety tests, but the suspect refused. The suspect also refused a breath test. The suspect was processed and booked SCDC.

Marc Fabian Otero, 26, of Socorro, faces charges of aggravated driving while under the influence (refusal to submit blood or breath) and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer

California

An officer tried to stop a male on a bike for riding without lights. The male fled and threw away his bike a short distance later. The officer was able to locate the male in a bush, and the male had warrants for his arrest.

Leroy Gallegos, 35, of Socorro, was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center, where he faces charges of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer and required equipment lights, brakes, etc. (bicycles).

December 24, 2024

Giles

An officer was dispatched for a male who was breaking trees in the ditch and yelling. The officer was able to locate the male who said he was yelling. The officer noticed a syringe sticking out of the male’s pocket. The officer tried to identify the male, who gave the officer the wrong name and then fled from the officer.

The male was taken to the ground and was arrested. During the incident, the officer’s iWatch was broken. The suspect was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

David Lopez, 27, of Socorro, is charged with criminal damage to property, resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer in addition to a warrant for his arrest.

1425 block El Camino Real

The officer was called to school for a break-in. The officer met with the caller, who advised that there was a fire alarm at the school. While on the scene, the caller saw a broken window in a storage building. The caller checked the building and noticed the door open.

The caller checked the building, but no one was located. The caller was not sure if any items were missing. As the officer was leaving, several trophies were located on the roadway. The caller retrieved the trophies. There are no suspects at this time.

1000 clock Hwy 85

An officer was checking on a business that had been burglarized several times in the past month. The officer noticed a male in the area next to the building. When the officer was trying to speak with the male, he fled from the officer, who was able to catch him a short time later.

The male resisted the officer and did not follow commands. The male was placed into handcuffs, and EMTs were called to check on the male. The male was complaining he could not breathe. After the male was cleared, the male gave the officer the wrong name. But he was alter-identified and had several warrants for his arrest. The male was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

Geoffrey Garrett, 41, of Truth or Consequences, faces charges of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, concealing identity, criminal trespass/not posted and a warrant.

December 25, 2024

305 block Abeyta

An officer was called to a business for breaking and entering. The officer arrived and found an entry door forced open. The officer cleared the building and did not locate anyone inside.

The victim had video of two suspects in the building; one was identified, and the other had a cover on their face. The victim advised an electric meter was also damaged. The damage was estimated at $1300.00.

Tyler Burgoon, 23, is charged with breaking and entering and criminal damage to property.

December 26, 2024

1200 block Hwy 60

An officer was called to a doctor’s office for harassment. The officer met with the victim, who advised the suspect was calling and messaging the victim, saying a child she had was not his and was requesting a DNA test. The victim advised the suspect a referral needed to be turned in by the doctor.

The suspect had continued to call the doctor’s office, wanting a paternity test set up. The staff advised the suspect called and requested the test. When asked for the child’s DOB, the suspect got upset and threatened to have the staff fired. Telling one staff member, he knew who she was and was going to get her fired.

Socorro Plaza

Officers were called to the Socorro Plaza for a male sleeping. The officers contacted the male and advised him he had to leave. The male agreed to leave. The caller advised several lights were damaged. The caller estimated the damage to be valued at $1200.00.

December 27, 2024

400 block Terry

Officers were called to a home for a juvenile male bleeding from an injury. The officers located the male juvenile with a deep cut to his arm. The officers put on a tourniquet, and the juvenile male was taken to the hospital. The female juvenile suspect advised she was arguing with the male and struck him.

The two female victims advised they heard the arguing and tried to separate the two juveniles. The male juvenile struck both adult females and then punched the walls and a window, causing the cut to the arm. The adult female victims declined to press any charges. The incident was documented.

1200 block Hwy 60

An officer was called to a retirement medical facility for sexual harassment. The officer spoke with a witness, who advised the female victim was standing against a wall with the male suspect next to the victim. The witness advised she saw the male suspect with his hands down the front of the victim’s pants; the suspect removed his hand and smelled his fingers.

The two were separated. The victim is nonverbal and could not provide a statement. The officer met with the suspect and advised him of his rights. The suspect advised that he did not understand and needed an interpreter. No interview was completed.

Roy Begay, 73, of Shiprock, is charged with criminal sexual penetration in the first degree/mental condition/engage.

1100 block Fairground

An officer was called to a home for a suspect breaking a window. The officer met with the victim, who advised that the suspect had damaged the vehicle window. The victim advised that a witness had seen the suspect walking away from the home after hearing the window break.

The witness advised that he was in the home when he heard a noise like glass breaking. When he went outside, he saw the suspect walking away and yelling back at the home. No other people were in the area.

Anthony Louis Padilla, 31, of Socorro, was charged with criminal damage to property of a household member and deprivation of property of a household member.

100 block Juniper

Officers were called to a home for a juvenile suspect being found with a THC vape. The officer was provided with the vape and disposed of it. The caller advised the juvenile took the vape from another family member. The juvenile was left in the care of his mother.

200 block Pena

A victim advised that a female suspect was on camera looking in the windows of the home and disabling a light. A few hours later, a male suspect broke a window of the house and entered. The suspect took several items, totaling over $500.00. The victim will provide a video of the suspects.

100 block Meek

The victim advised that two dogs came into the yard and attacked the victim’s dog, injuring it. The victim was not home when the attack happened, and the dog was taken to the Vet. The victim will provide a video of the incident once it is obtained. The suspect dogs were not located.

Circle K

A suspect was contacted for a speed violation. During contact, the officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver. The officer called for a secondary officer, who asked the suspect to complete field sobriety tests.

The suspect completed the HGN test and showed several clues. The suspect refused the other field sobriety tests and was arrested. The vehicle was released to a passenger. The suspect was advised of the implied consent warning, but the driver refused to be tested.

The suspect was processed and booked into SCDC. Justi Smith, 36, faces charges of aggravated driving while under the influence and speeding 26-30 mph over.

December 29, 2024

800 block Granada

Officers were called to a home for an argument. The officers met with a female suspect, who advised the victim woke up angry and began yelling about money. The suspect advised she struck the victim, and he pushed her away.

The two continued to argue, and the suspect punched the male victim again. The officer met with the victim, who advised the two were arguing over money when the suspect bit the victim. The victim did have a bite mark. The two share an 8-month-old child. The suspect was not arrested and was told charges would be filed. The victim agreed to leave the home for the night.

Charges were later filed against the 19-year-old female suspect.

December 30, 2024

1100 block California

An officer was called to the scene in reference to a reckless driver. The officer arrived in the area and located a vehicle matching the description given by dispatch. A male was sleeping in the driver’s seat.

The officer noticed signs of impairment in the driver. The officer was attempting to speak with the male, and he began trying to put his hands in his pockets. The officer gave the male orders not to put his hands in his pockets.

The male got angry with the officer and continued trying to reach into his pockets. The officer attempted to detain the male, but he began resisting. The officer was able to place the male in handcuffs behind his back after a short altercation.

The officer advised the driver he was going to have him perform SFSTs, but the driver refused. The officer read the driver the New Mexico implied consent advisory card, and he refused to provide a breath sample. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The officer transported the male to SCDC, where he was booked.

Arlo D Harman, 53, of Cerillos, faces charges of aggravated driving while under the influence, no proof of insurance, no registration, resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, and a fictitious license plate.
