SEXUAL ASSAULT OVER SPRING BREAK
On May 7 an officer was called to the school at 1200 Michigan to follow up on an assault and victim disclosed they were sexually assaulted over spring break. The victim has developmental delays, said reports. The DA’s office was advised and set up a forensic interview. The guardian of the victim was notified and charges are pending interview of the victim.
HARASSMENT REPORTED AT
DRIVE-THROUGH
Officer was dispatched to a local business at 1103 N California on May 7. Employee stated that a female was in the drive through pointing at her, employee said her father has an order of protection against the female. Employee was unable to provide paperwork and officer was also unable to find existing paperwork.
HALF-NUDE FEMALE REPORTED
An officer was dispatched to 400 S Melody on May 7 to document a report of a half-nude female knocking on the door of the homeowner. The female had left before officers arrival.
VEHICLE REAR WINDOW BROKEN
On May 7 a caller on 1428 Tyler Street advised officers that his rear window was broken. Victim advised that he did not think anyone damaged the window but that he had recently replaced the window at a dealership and could hear popping coming from the window. Officer documented the incident.
ARGUMENT OVER LUNCH
A caller reported on May 8 that they were having lunch at 118 Manzanares with the victim when a suspect began making comments. Victim and caller got up to leave and the suspect confronted the victim and shoulder bumped them. The suspect and victim began arguing and the caller separated them. The caller advised that the father of the suspect was asked to assist in separating the victim and suspect but refused. The caller was able to get the victim away from the suspect and requested that charges be filed.
NARCOTICS ARREST
Officers were called to a suspicious vehicle at 508 Reservoir on May 8. Officers made contact with the occupants of the car and saw drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. NMSP assisted in identifying subjects and located narcotics in the vehicle. NMSP made an arrest.
LAUNDRY SOAP THEFT
On May 8 at 206 Faulkner a victim advised officers that a suspect broke into their home and damaged property. The victim advised that the suspect was trying to take laundry soap. Suspect, Leondra Deleon Pargas, age 27 of Socorro was located on the property and arrested on two charges of Burglary and two charges of Criminal Trespass/not posted.
VEHICLE TAKEN OVERNIGHT
On 726 Hopefarm Road on May 9 victim awoke to find his vehicle was gone. He advised officers that he had last seen the vehicle the night prior at 11 p.m. The victim did not know who took their vehicle. A theft declaration was signed and vehicle was entered into NCIC.
SUSPECTED GUN POINTED AT DOG
On May 10 a caller reported that his neighbor was being shot at by a neighbor at 708 Giles. The officer met with the victim who reported his dog was barking and he saw his neighbor pointing an object at his dog. The caller advised officers that the neighbor put the object down by some weeds. The officer checked the area and did not find a gun, when the officer located the neighbor he advised the officer he was checking his property and saw the caller. Neighbor advised he did not have a gun or point a gun at the dog. Incident was documented by officers.
BUSINESS WINDOW DAMAGED BY ROCK
A business owner at 705 N California St reported on May 11 that an unknown suspect damaged a window at their business. The officer was able to verify the damage and a rock that was used to cause the damage. The officer checked the area for cameras but was unable to locate any. The damage was estimated at $2000.
RUNAWAY RETURNED HOME
On May 11 at 113 Neel Avenue a juvenile was reported as leaving home without permission. The caller reported she has custody of the juvenile and their siblings, and the juvenile had left home to the paternal grandparents home. Officers made contact with the grandparent and the juvenile was returned to the custody of the guardian.
WINDOW SCREEN DAMAGED BY
TRESPASSER
A victim at 817 Granada on May 11 advised officers that the suspect entered their property without permission and were seen on security cameras. Victim reported that they spoke with the suspect using the two-way camera device and the suspect leaned against a window screen causing damage. The victim advised the suspects did leave and went on to other properties, the victim asked for charges to be filed. Valentine Saavedra age 52 of Socorro was charged with two charges of Criminal Damage to Property and two charges of Criminal Trespass/not posted.
THREATENED WITH SHOVEL
Officers were called to 521 Sierra Bonita on May 12 for a suspect punching a victim’s vehicle mirror and causing damage of $60. The victim advised officers that a month prior the suspect had come to her property and made threats with a shovel. The victim states the subject was upset that the victim had told the suspect not to smoke marijuana in the home around the children. The victim advised their father and the suspect took the shovel away. Julian D Flores 36 of Socorro was charged with one count of Criminal Damage to Property for the broken vehicle mirror.
SHOPLIFTER THROWS DRINKS
Victim called officers out to a store at 924 Highway 85 on May 13 advising that the subject was shoplifting from the store. The victim confronted the suspect who was leaving the store without paying for drinks. The victim states the suspect then threw the drinks at the victim, striking them in the shoulder. Charges were filed on Symone B Armijo, age 32 of Magdalena for two counts of Battery and two counts of Shoplifting.
HOLE SHOT IN APARTMENT CEILING
Officers were called to an apartment complex at 1212 El Camino Real on May 14 for someone shooting a hole in an apartment. The officer arrived and spoke to the suspect who stated he was in his apartment and had a shotgun in his hands, the shotgun went off and put a hole from the upper apartment to the lower apartment. No one was injured. The officer met with downstairs neighbors who advised the gunshot put a hole in the ceiling and officers were able to see the damage. The officer took possession of the shotgun.
TWO SUSPECTS TURN THEMSELVES IN
Two suspects came into the police department to turn themselves in on active arrest warrants. Warrants were confirmed and the suspects were arrested and booked at Socorro County Detention Center.
LAPTOP DROPPED ON CHILD AT HEAD START
Officers were provided with a CPS report for an incident at the head start school on 239 Garfield St on May 14. The officer was advised that a teacher had dropped a laptop computer on a child that was sleeping in class, causing injury. The officer met with staff at the school that was completing a review of the incident. The teacher was not present and was on administrative leave pending investigation. The child was seen at the SGH for injuries. Officer followed up with staff and was advised that the investigation showed no intent and was an accident. No charges were filed.
NECKLACE WITH METHAMPHETAMINE
An officer working on a special operation looking for subjects with active arrest warrants went to a suspects home at 616 Blue Canyon Rd on May 14. Inside they found Jason P. Tomberlain who had an active warrant, the subject attempted to flee but was caught and arrested. The officers located a glass vile around the suspects neck with a white substance that was tested and proved positive for methamphetamine. Tomberlain was booked at SCDC for the two active warrants as well as two counts of Possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of Resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE DURING WARRANT PICK UP
Officers working on a special operation for warrant pickups located a male suspect at a residence at Blue Canyon on May 14. The male suspect ran from officers and was caught and arrested. Officers located a pill bottle with prescription pills where the suspect was found. The suspect provided the wrong name and date of birth and was identified by officers. Samuel Jim Chavez, 42 of Socorro was arrested on three active warrants, three charges of Possession of a controlled substance, three charges of Resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, and three charges of Concealing identity. Chavez was booked and processed at the SCDC and evidence was logged at the police department.
WARRANT PICK UP
A suspect was contacted in Sedillo Park on May 14 for having a valid arrest warrant, warrant was confirmed in NCIC and suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
FENTANYL FOUND DURING WARRANT ARREST
Officers contacting a suspect on Reservoir and Lincoln on May 14 for having an active arrest warrant searched suspect and located a blue pill identified as fentanyl. The suspect was booked at the SCDC and evidence was logged at the Socorro Police Department. Brian Tafoya, age 36 of Socorro was charged with two counts of Possession of a controlled substance as well as the two active warrants for their arrest.
WARRANT ARREST AT PLAZA
Officers contacted a suspect with a valid arrest warrant at Plaza on May 14. Suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
MISSING LICENSE PLATE
A caller at 407 Center on May 15 advised officers that the license plate from a Harley Davidson motorcycle fell off and has not been located. The license plate was registered out of Canada. Officers documented the missing license plate.
GRATE STOLEN FROM CAR WASH
Officers responded to a victim at a car wash on 1201 Highway 85 on May 15 who states that suspects pulled up to the car wash and took a metal grate from the ground drain and left with it. The suspects were recorded on video. The officer reviewed the recordings but could not identify the suspects or their vehicles.
STEERING WHEEL COVER AND OTHER ITEMS STOLEN
A caller at 902 N California advised officers on May 15 that an unknown suspect entered their business with their face covered and took a steering wheel cover and other miscellaneous items before running out of the store without paying. The caller took a picture of the suspects vehicle but the license plate was covered with a rag. The caller estimated the value of the stolen items at $60. The suspect has not yet been identified.
DRUGS FOUND DURING WARRANT ARREST
A suspect was contacted by police at 6th Street and Doc Holiday for a valid arrest warrant. The suspect was arrested and searched, the officers located blue pills in the suspect’s shirt pocket and a crystal substance in the suspect’s wallet. The substances were found to be narcotic drugs. The suspect, Jason C Greenwood, age 41 of Socorro was arrested for four valid warrants as well as four charges of Possession of a controlled substance and booked at SCDC. The drugs were logged at the Socorro Police Department evidence room.
WARRANT PICK UP
Officers contacted a suspect on Grant Street and Lucero on May 15 for having a valid arrest warrant. The officer confirmed the warrant in NCIC and the suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
ROCK THROWN AT VEHICLE
On May 16 on Granada an officer was called to the area for a male suspect throwing a rock at the vehicle. Suspect one advised officers that the driver of the vehicle was calling them names so he left the area, while walking away the driver of the vehicle swerved at the suspect so the suspect threw a rock at their vehicle. The driver advised that the suspect was hitting his vehicle so the driver exited the vehicle with a knife. The suspect walked away. The driver of the vehicle advised officers he left the parking lot at a high rate of speed around the suspect. The driver advised he dropped his wallet and that the suspect took it. The suspect denied taking the wallet. Neither suspect wanted charges filed and officers documented the incident.
WARRANT RESULTS IN FENTANYL ARREST
Officers contacted suspect on Highway 85 at Harold’s Gift Shop on May 16 for suspect having a valid arrest warrant. Warrant was confirmed by NCIC. When suspect was arrested and searched the suspect was in possession of pills that were identified as fentanyl. Zachary Lee Owen, age 20 of Socorro was arrested and booked at SCDC on the warrant charge and one charge of Possession of a controlled substance.
SUSPECT FROM ALBUQUERQUE ARRESTED
Officers were advised of a male suspect who was wanted out of Albuquerque, NM for assaulting his ex-wife with a firearm. Suspect was said to be in a green Jeep and traveling to Socorro. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the suspect. Suspect advised officers he did not have a gun. The officer towed the vehicle pending a search warrant. Suspect booked at the SCDC.
TIRE DAMAGED BY SUSPECT
A victim at 1140 Chaparral on May 17 reported that suspect Anthony Dale McClury, age 44, of Socorro damaged their vehicle tire with a sharp object when the victim declined to give the suspect a ride. McClury was charged with one count of criminal damage to property.
BUSINESS WINDOW BROKEN
Officers were called to a business at 105 Plaza on May 17 for a broken window. Officers met with the victim who advised he located a broken window on one of the businesses. The officer was shown damage to a door. Officer was able to clear the building and no suspects were found but blood and a golf club were found. The golf club was taken as evidence. A male who was known to carry the club was not found and the suspect when found denied any knowledge of the incident. With no witnesses to the incident no charges were filed.
REVOKED LICENSE
Suspect was contacted by police for a traffic violation. Officers completed NCIC check that showed the suspect had a suspended revoked license. The suspect was arrested and vehicle was towed from Highway 60 on May 17. Cheryl Ann Toadlena, age 51 of Socorro was charged with two counts of driving while license suspended or revoked and two charges on driving on roadways laned for traffic.
BURGLAR ALARM DOCUMENTED
Officers were dispatched to 204 Neel Avenue on May 18 for a burglary alarm going off. Officers arrived and noted a screen was off a window and the window was not locked. The officers did not see anyone inside. Officer found the front door unlocked and cleared the building. An employee arrived and checked the building. No items were missing and the incident was documented.
CAR DAMAGED WITH HAMMER AND BRICKS
Officers were called to a home at 908 Texas on May 18 for an assault. Officer saw the victims car was blocked in and noticed damage to the vehicle. The officer was advised that an adult suspect and two juvenile suspects damaged the victim’s car with hammers and bricks. The officer noticed damage to the car found the hammers and bricks. The adult suspect was arrested, the officer was provided with video evidence of the incident and the adult suspect was booked to SCDC. The juvenile reports were sent to JPPO. Renee Sabrina Saavedra, age 30 of Socorro was charged with five counts of false imprisonment, five charges of aggravated assault, five counts of criminal damage to property and ten counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
UNKNOWN SUSPECTS STEALS CELL PHONES
A caller advised officers that two unknown suspects entered a business at 700 N 6th St on May 18 looking at cell phones. The suspects were taken to the self checkout where the suspects did not scan any of the items and left without paying. The items taken were two cell phones and some food items. The officer was shown a video of the suspect and officers were not able to identify the suspects.
WARRANT SUSPECT RELEASED
An officer contacted a suspect on a warrant traffic stop. The officer detained the suspect on a warrant and released the driver of a vehicle. The officer was waiting for a paper copy of the warrant. The NMSP dispatch contacted city dispatch and advised the warrant had already been served but not cleared from the NCIC. The suspect was released and taken back to the home where they left.
SHOPLIFTING ITEMS RETURNED
An officer was called to 1006 N California Street on May 19 and advised of a suspect shoplifting from the store. The suspect was contacted and admitted to the theft and returned the stolen items. The suspect was cited into court.
FISHING POLES STOLEN
Officers were called to 204 Spring Street on May 19 and advised that an unknown suspect forced entry into a commercial property. Suspect took two bamboo fly fishing rods and damaged other items in the building. The officer was shown the building and damage done by unknown suspect. The officer noted forced entry and damage done to the interior walls and cabinets. No suspects were located at the scene and no cameras were located in the area that would identify a suspect.
