BURGLARY AT HOMELESS SHELTER
On May 1 a victim reported suspects had forced entry into the homeless shelter at 519 S California St. Suspects took a flat screen TV and DVD player valued at $100. Cameras showed a dark figure enter the building but suspects could not be identified.
NEIGHBOR THREATENS TO SHOOT DOG
Officers were dispatched to residence on 804 Granada on May 2 to document an argument between neighbors in which one neighbor threatened to shoot the other neighbor’s dog if it got into her yard.
VEHICLE DAMAGED AT SOCORRO VILLAGE
Socorro Police dispatched to 444 Eaton for damage done to a vehicle on May 2. Officer was not able to make contact with the male who lives at the village that the victim suspected or the manager of the property.
STOLEN VEHICLE
On May 3 an officer patrolling the area of West Place Park North parking lot noticed a vehicle parked there after hours. Two men were inside of the vehicle, when the officer ran the license plate the vehicle came back as stolen. Jose M Coronel of Socorro, 56, was charged with Receiving/Possession of the Stolen Motor Vehicle. Officer had the stolen vehicle towed.
WALLET TAKEN FROM VEHICLE
A victim advised Socorro Police officers on May 4 at 507 Tierra Bonita that a suspect was on his property and took his wallet from his vehicle. The victim stated the following day the suspect was walking through the property again and when the victim asked him for his wallet the suspect denied taking the wallet or its contents.
MALE TURNS SELF IN FOR ACTIVE WARRANTS
On May 5 an officer was dispatched to Middle Street for a male who was wanting to turn himself in for active warrants. The officer ran the male through NCIC and confirmed there was an active warrant and placed the male under arrest. Male was booked at the Socorro County detention center.
MAN BATTERED AND POSSIBLY DRUGGED
An officer received information on a man flown out from 603 2nd St due to injuries due to being battered and possibly drugged on May 5. The victim was unable to make the report initially due to being in the hospital but the officer received evidence in the form of photographs and voluntary statements. Officer will be filing charges.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Officer was dispatched for a domestic in progress at Fatima and NW Frontage on May 5. Officer arrived and saw a male and female on the ground, officer states the male said the female had stolen items from him he was trying to get back but claims he never struck the female. The female had signs of battery and male, Eric Rodriguez, 30, of Socorro, was arrested and charged for Domestic Violence-Battery and incarcerated at the Socorro County Detention Center.
ARGUMENT DOCUMENTED
Officer called to an incident at 304 Fisher on May 5 for two males were arguing. The reporting person stated that the male pointed a flashlight at him and told him he would make him eat it if he talked about his dog. Reporting person did not press charges but wanted the officer to document the incident.
BUSTED CONCRETE, CIVIL ISSUE
Officers called to take a report at 805 N California St on May 6 due to a caller stating that someone was driving over his concrete and damaging it. The officer observed that the concrete was busted and that the male had driven over it. The officer advised the two men that it would be a civil issue but did generate a report on the incident.
WARRANT CONFIRMED
Officer met with male on HWY 85 on May 6 who had a warrant for his arrest. Warrant was confirmed and the man was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.
FEMALE ARRESTED ON WARRANT
Officer conducted a house check at 1508 Fatima on May 6 for a female with an active warrant. A male answered the door but officer was granted permission to enter the residence. Officer located the female with the active warrant, confirmed the warrant and then arrested the female and booked her at Socorro County Detention Center.
JAYWALKING LEADS TO ARREST FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Officer stopped a man for crossing on a non-designated area of Spring St. on May 6. Officer noticed the man threw a bag on the floor, officer determined the bag had a crystal like substance known to be a controlled substance. Christopher L. Castagnetto, 51, of Socorro was arrested for two charges of Jay Walking and two charges of Possession of a controlled substance. Castagnetto was booked at Socorro County Detention Center.
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO WARRANT ARREST
On May 6 a suspect during a traffic stop at West Place was shown to have an active warrant. Suspect was arrested and booked at the Socorro County Detention Center, the vehicle from the stop was released to its owner.
FIREARM STOLEN WHILE OWNER WAS INCARCERATED
Officer responded to victim at 1508 Fatima on May 6 who advised that he was incarcerated overnight when a suspect broke into his home and took several items including a firearm. Victim was able to provide a serial number for the firearm and sign a theft declaration. The victim advised the officer that he was contacted by a male who stated the victim’s ex-girlfriend was trying to sell the male the stolen firearm. Case is still under investigation.
MAN WITH ACTIVE WARRANT EVADES POLICE
Officers patrolling the area of Spring Street on May 6 observed a male with an active warrant out for his arrest. When officers pulled up to the subjects residence the subject fled from officers and then was caught shortly after. Officers confirmed the warrant and then arrested Jose Anaya, 36, of Socorro and booked him in the Socorro County Detention Center on two active warrants and a charge of Resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
WARRANT ARREST
On May 6 officers patrolling the area of Fisher Avenue noticed a male with an active warrant for his arrest. Officers made contact with the subject and confirmed the active warrant. Officers arrested subject and booked him in at Socorro County Detention Center.
FIGHT OVER CHILD SUPPORT
Officers were called to 1012 Lemitar on May 7 for a fight between a juvenile female and her ex-boyfriend’s mother. Juvenile stated that she went to the ex-boyfriends home to collect child support that was agreed upon. Juvenile met with the ex-boyfriend’s mother who juvenile said declined to pay the child support. Juvenile stated that her current boyfriend put his foot in the door and the ex-boyfriends mother became aggressive and pulled her by her hair. The ex-boyfriend’s mother stated that the juvenile entered her home without permission and that she had given her $100 for the child support. The mother also states that the juvenile pushed her so the mother pushed her back and juvenile fell to the ground. Officer on the case called DSA and no charges were approved. The guardian of the juvenile wanted the ex-boyfriend’s mother arrested but was advised by officers that no charges would be filed. Guardian then advised officers she would be calling ICE since the ex-boyfriend’s mother was in the USA illegally.
FIGHT WITH ROCK CAUSES MULTIPLE INJURIES
A fight on Santa Fe Lane on May 7 led to multiple arrests and injuries. Cecily Esquivel, 35, of Socorro was charged with three charges of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, as well as one charged of Criminal Damage to Property and four charges of Battery. Norman Aguilar, 33, of Socorro was charged with one charge of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon as well as two counts of Battery and one charge of Criminal Damage to Property. Joseph Aguilar, 19, of Socorro was charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, four charges of Battery, and two charges of Criminal Damage to Property. A female victim was hit with a rock by Esquivel causing injuries to their head and was taken to SGH for treatment. Another female victim stated she was pushed into a truck by Joseph Aguilar and received a cut on her head. The third victim stated that Norman Aguilar pulled her from a vehicle where she was then struck by Esquivel.
TOUCHING INCIDENT AT SCHOOL
May 7 at the school on 1200 Michigan an officer was called to document an incident of a suspect touching a victim’s leg and hip area in the hallway.
