SHOPLIFTING

Suspect Michael B Avila, age 36 of Ruidoso Downs, NM was arrested on two charges of shoplifting and two charges of concealing identity on June 24 in the area of California and Abeyta.

JUVENILE CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING, ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER

A juvenile was charged on June 25 in the area of California and Francisco De Avando for 18 charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, 18 charges of reckless driving, 18 charges of aggravated fleeing from a law enforcement officer, 36 charges of assault on a peace officer/failed battery, 18 charges of no drivers license, 18 charges of no proof of insurance, 18 charges of no evidence of registration exhibited on demand, and 18 charges of not using required headlights.

BURGLARY

Esperanza Jane Hipscher, age 28 was arrested on June 27 at 407 Center St on one charge of burglary.

WARRANT, RESISTING ARREST

Esperanza Jane Hipscher, age 28 of Socorro was arrested on June 27 at 1140 Chaparral Dr for four active warrants and eight charges of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

BATTERY

Sandra A. Carrillo, age 53 of Socorro was arrested on June 28 at 803 Spring St. for one charge of battery.

JUVENILE AND ADULT ARRESTED

Miguel Saavedra, age 42 of Socorro was arrested at 1006 Fowler on June 28 for three charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, three charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, six charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and three charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. An unnamed juvenile was also arrested for one charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, one charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and two charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

EMBEZZLEMENT

Danelda Silva, age 28 of Socorro was arrested on June 30 at 1013 N California St on one charge of embezzlement.

LIGHTS STOLEN FROM CEMETERY

An officer was dispatched to Blue Canyon on the first of July to make a report for a victim who stated that several lights were stolen from his fathers grave. The victim stated he had talked to another man who purchased the lights from a female suspect. The male returned the lights to the victim and the female, Keanda Chavez, age 30 of Magdalena was arrested and charged with two counts of larceny and two counts of defacing tombs.

AIR CONDITIONER STOLEN

On July 1 an officer responded to 500 Calle Bonita for a reported burglary. The property owner was informed by a contact that an air conditioner had been stolen and was located at a nearby residence. The officer located the air conditioner and spoke with a male suspect who denied involvement, the air conditioner was returned to the owner. An inspection of the residence revealed further theft totalled at $2,273. A witness reported that a female suspect was seen transporting the air conditioner.

MAN JUMPED BY WOMEN FOR $300

A victim at 500 S. Bagley on July 2 reported he was jumped by several females who stole his wallet that had $300. The victim was able to identify one suspect and had visible scratches from the incident.

WARRANT ARREST

An officer was called to the probation and parole office at 116 Mechem Street on July 2 for a suspect with a valid warrant. The officer was provided with a valid warrant and the suspect was booked at the SCDC.

WARRANT SUSPECT EVADES ARREST

An officer patrolling in the area of 1010 Spring St on July 2 saw a suspect who had a warrant out for his arrest. The male fled from the officer, the officer was able to capture the suspect a short time later. The officer confirmed their warrants and Jose Anaya, age 36 of Socorro was arrested and booked at SCDC on eight counts of 8 resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer as well as twelve warrants.

SHOPLIFTING SUSPECT ARRESTED

On July 3 at 700 N 6th St officers were provided photographs and and documents showing a suspect taking merchandise from a store without paying. The total value was over $900. Zechariah Robinson, age 29 of Socorro was charged with one count of shoplifting.

VEHICLE STOLEN BY OWNER

Officers were called to 1313 State Road 1 on July 3. The victim stated that a vehicle previously towed by law enforcement was being picked up by its owner, who claimed to have the funds to pay the required fees. After the vehicle was brought to the front of the building, the victim went inside to retrieve paperwork. Upon returning, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. Later, Eric Rodriguez, age 31 of Socorro was charged with two counts of unlawful taking of a vehicle and two counts of falsely obtaining services.

DUI CRASH

On July 3, in the area of Neal and West Place, two parked vehicles were struck by another vehicle. When the officer arrived on the scene he observed that the driver smelt like alcohol. When the officer asked if they had been drinking they said they had two shots of alcohol. Officer performed field sobriety tests and the driver performed poorly and was put under arrest. The driver was transported to the Socorro Police Department upon which she gave two breath samples which registered at .26 BRAC. The driver, Summer Raine Soto-Fernandez, age 27 of Socorro was booked at SCDC on two charges of aggravated driving while under the influence (second or more subsequent offense)/BA.16 or higher, and two charges of careless driving.

DAMAGED WINDSHIELD

An officer was called to the scene in reference to a damaged vehicle on July 4, in the area of California St. The victim stated that something fell and damaged his windshield and he wanted to make a report for insurance purposes.

VICTIM FOUND IN BATHTUB

A caller in the area of Central Ave reported on July 4 that they arrived home to find a victim unresponsive in a bathtub. The caller attempted CPR. The victim was pronounced deceased by the office of the medical investigator and the victim was taken to the funeral home pending an autopsy.

FEMALE TREPASSES IN HOME

An officer was called to a scene at 285 Hope Farms Road on July 4 for a female trespasser who had gone into the residence and sat down on the floor and refused to leave. When the officer met with the suspect she stated she was there to retrieve money owed to her by the victim. The officer informed the suspect that she was already trespassed from the property and placed the female under arrest. The female, Celena Bruton, age 45 of Socorro was booked at SCDC on two charges of criminal trespass.

THREATS MADE WITH RIFLE

At 1212 El Camino Real on July 5 a victim advised officers that a suspect was making threats to harm her or others with a rifle. The suspect had sent several threatening text messages to the victim. The victim advised officers that she had a protection order against the suspect but when located it was already expired.

PURSES LEFT IN RESTAURANT

On July 5 officers were called to 1001 California St. for a woman leaving her purse at the restaurant on the counter while ordering and also left another purse in the restaurant. The reporting person stated she tried to retrieve a phone number or ID for the female from the purse, but only found an ID for a male and also located a firearm. The reporting woman stated that the female came back to the restaurant and accused her of stealing medication from the purse. The woman retrieved her purses and left with them.
