Socorro Police Blotter
STOLEN PROPERTY – Elijah Montoya, 19, of Socorro, was charged with five counts of receiving stolen property, aggravated driving while under the influence, driving while license suspended or revoked, and headlights required after an incident on September 7 at the corner of Sunset and Medley. An officer on patrol that evening noticed a vehicle turning on a side street and turning off its headlights. The office also noted the car was swerving as if the occupants were moving or changing seats. Once the vehicle stopped the officer noted a strong order of liquor and bottle of liquor in the back seat of the car. The juvenile female admitted the male made her switch seats and the male hid the bottle of liquor. The officer then spoke to the male and was advised a DWI investigation. The suspect showed several clues and was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center. The officer completed a tow inventory and found a liquor bottle and hand gun. The gun was processed through NCIC and was shown as stolen. Montoya was advised of the implied consent warning and refused testing. He was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED – Bruce Allen Salvador, 61, of Laguna, N.M., was charged with three counts of driving while license suspended or revoked, required position and method of turning at intersections and open container after an incident at 10:22 a.m., September 10 at the corner of California and Spring Street. An officer stopped Salvador for a traffic violation and then ran his license to find it had been suspended. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center and the vehicle was towed.
STOLEN TOOLS – A resident on Tornillo reported on September 10, the theft of several power tools from his residence. The individual said he confronted his neighbor who said her son had taken the tools, the neighbor was able to provide two drills back. The victim said he wanted the male to pay the rest of the missing items. As of the time the report was made, the neighbor’s son had not paid him back.
BANNER STOLEN – A member of the Socorro County Fair and Rodeo Quilt Show informed police their banner was stolen from the rodeo arena on September 11. The banner was valued at $69. There are no suspects at the present time.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT – Anthony Dale McClury, 43, of Socorro was arrested after an incident at the Plaza in downtown Socorro at 3:38 p.m. on September 12. Officers were called to the Plaza in reference to two males fighting. Officers noted that both parties were intoxicated. One party left, however, McClury was asked to leave several times and didn’t. He later was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
BREAKING AND ENTERING – Oscar Oswaldo Lucero, 37, was charged with breaking and entering a garage on School of the Mines Road, at 4 a.m., September 12. The victim opened the door to their home and a male suspect fled on foot. Officers were given a description of the suspect and located the suspect in the area. The suspect was taken back to the scene of the crime where the victim identified Lucero. The victim estimated the window replacement was $250. Lucero was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Adrianna Yvonne Collins, 29, of Socorro, was arrested on an active warrant at 10 a.m. on September 12, on Highway 60. After the female was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center, staff located a blue in color pill in her belongs. The officer retrieved the pill and entered it into evidence to be sent to the lab.
PANHANDLING – At 10:30 a.m., September 12, a suspect was called into the police station for panhandling after church on Sundays. The priest was notified and advised that he could be a danger to his parishioners. The officer advised the priest, the male would be contacted and advised he was trespassing. The male acknowledged he understood and was released from custody.
DUMPING TRASH – A resident on Kentucky Street called police at 2:45 p.m., September 13, that someone was dumping trash on the caller’s property. The officer was shown the debris that appeared to be dumped by a tractor. The caller advised he first noticed a trash bag being dumped there three months ago. At the time there were no suspects listed.
BICYCLE STOLEN – A caller on Leroy Street told police at 12:50 p.m., on September 13, he left his bike outside a building while attending a meeting. When he came back outside, his bicycle was gone. The victim did see two juveniles in the area but did not see who took the bike. The bicycle is a red Trek valued at $200.
PROMOTING PROSTITUTION – Luis Antonio Flores, 35, of Socorro, was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center at 2:40 p.m., on September 13. Flores was stopped by police during a routine traffic stop at the corner of Sixth Street and College. During the stop, the female advised the officer Flores she had swallowed several fentanyl pills. She also told officers Flores offered her $20 for prostitution services.
HOUSE VANDALIZED – The owner of a home on Grant Street reported to police her home was vandalized at 10:21 a.m. on September 14. The owner told police someone entered the home and damaged the home’s door frame. The victim advised officers the unknown suspect went through the drawers of the home and threw items on the floor. The victim was asked to provide a list of any stolen items. There are no suspects.
CHICKENS KILLED – A residence of Bagley Street told police dogs entered his chicken coop and killed several chickens at 5:01 p.m. on September 15. The victim notified animal control, and a dog was followed but not picked up. The dog was not seen attacking the chickens.
STOLEN FOOD – John Brooks Super Mart reported at a suspect took food items from the store without paying. The caller wants the suspect to be contacted and trespassed from the store.
RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY – Jimmy Paz,70, homeless of Socorro, was charged with receiving stolen property and littering after an incident at 1:20 p.m., September 16, on Simpson Street. Paz was called in for trespassing on private property and having a homeless camp. The officer advised Paz to leave the area and not return. However, Paz returned later in the day with a Walmart shopping card and filled the cart with items left at the property. The officer contacted Walmart, and they were advised by staff they would like charges filed for taking a stolen cart off the premises of Walmart. Paz was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
THREATS – Police officers were called to Socorro Middle School for threats being made. The officer met with the caller who provided the officer with documents of a conversation between two juveniles who appeared to be threatening to shoot each other. The report was written on September 17.
SUSPENDED LICENSE – Valente Silva, 22, of Socorro, was arrested during a traffic stop at 8:15 a.m. at the corner of North California and Spring Street. Silva had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and charged with driving while license was suspended or revoked, too.
AGGRAVATED DRIVING – Destiny Diane Garrett, 21, of Capitan, N.M., was arrested on three counts of aggravated driving while under the influence, driving on roadways laned for traffic and turning movement and signals after police stopped her while she was driving southbound on Interstate 25 at mile marker 147. Her vehicle was towed, and she was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center. The incident took place at 8:47 p.m. on September 18
VEHICLE BUGLARIZED – A resident of Liles Street told a police officer her vehicle was broken into overnight, and several items taken. The incident was reported at 8:11 a.m. on September 19. The victim told police she noticed the vehicles doors were not closed properly as they were the night before. She provided police with a list of stolen items.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Timothy James Gallagher, 47, of Socorro was charged with criminal trespass after an incident on September 19, where a caller advised Gallagher shut the main power off on a building at 1101 N. California Street and ran from the scene.
LARCENY – A resident on Texas Street reported at 5 p.m. on September 19, that a set of rims and tires she had under her porch were tampered with. The victim believed someone switched the tires on the rims. The officer documented the report.
FOUND PROPERTY – An officer was dispatched to a residence on Bursum Street, on September 19, where a property owner found a bag with an owner’s manual and shoes inside. The officer was advised the property didn’t belong to the reporting property. They wanted the items removed from their property. The officer took possession of the property.
VEHICLE BUGLARIZED – A resident on Bursum Street reported to police on September 19, told police someone had stolen items from their vehicle. Items were later found down the street that belonged to her. The victim told police her car was locked; however, the officer did not see any signs of forced entry.
