PURSE STOLEN

Victim was at a store on 407 Center St on May 19 when while putting groceries into their car the victim turned to get her purse and noticed that her purse was gone. The victim advised that a man in all black was circling her vehicle when she was putting items in the car. The victim advised the man could have taken the wallet but she did not see him take it. The wallet contained $350 and credit cards.

POSSESSION OF FENTANYL

Officers called to a store at 700 North 6th Street on May 19 to meet with a probation and parole officer. The probation officer advised that suspect was inside the store and had a valid warrant. The suspect exited and was advised to stop. The suspect continued walking and was stopped and placed under arrest. The officer searched the suspect and located blue fentanyl pills on the suspects person. Timmy R. Leyba, 33 of Magdalena was arrested on the warrant and one count of possession of a controlled substance and booked at the SCDC. Controlled substance was logged at the police department.

$1000 IN HOME DAMAGES

Officers were called to South 5th Street on May 19 for a victim who called the police advising that a suspect was damaging the home while staying there. The officers met with the victims son, who advised the suspect was damaging the house. Officers entered the home and saw suspect spraying a substance on the floor and noticed over an inch of water on the floor coming from a different room. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. The suspect was asked to leave the home and turn over his key, the suspect complied and left. Officers noticed spray paint on a door that said SUR13, water was coming from a toilet flooding the floor. The son advised he would fix the damage and did not think the victim, his mother, would prosecute. Officers estimated the damage at over $1000.

GUN SHOT FIRED

Officers were called to the area of 401 Eastwood Loop Lot 1 on May 20 for a gun shot being fired in the area. The officers met with the caller who advised she was outside and heard a gun shot go off, and saw a bullet hit the dirt in the area. Officers met with the father of the caller who advised he also heard the gun shot and believed it came from a neighbors home two houses over. The father advised the occupants of the home left after the gun shot was heard. No contact was made with the occupants of the home at this time.

CELL PHONE STOLEN

Officers were called to 919 North California Street on May 20 for a victim who advised that unknown suspects took their cell phone from their work place and sold the phone at a kiosk in Las Cruces. The victim was able to provide information to officers.

LOST SS CARD AND PASSPORT

A caller at 801 Leroy South on May 20 advised while they were moving from one location to another the caller lost his social security card and passport. The caller was not sure where he lost the two items.

ATTEMPTED CASH THEFT

Officers were called to 501 N California Street on May 21 for a victim who advised they were withdrawing money from an ATM. While at the vehicle the victim was attempting to put his walker in the car and did not have his money secured in his pocket properly. A male with a beard attempted to sell the victim a necklace, and then reached into the victim’s pocket and took the money. A female that was with the suspect took the money back from the suspect and returned it to the victim. The male suspect and female left in a vehicle and were not identified.

ATTEMPTED FRAUDULENT DRIVER’S LICENSE

Officers were called to 407 Center Street on May 21 when a victim advised that an unknown suspect was trying to obtain a drivers license using the victims information in 2023 and used a fraudulent check. The victims license was suspended since 2023. The victim does not know who attempted to use her information. Incident was documented by police.

INTOXICATED JUVENILE

Officers were called to California and Proto on May 23 when they were advised of a juvenile driving their parent’s car while intoxicated. Officers were able to locate the suspect driving the car and complete a stop. Officer noted signs of intoxication and the driver admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was asked to complete a field sobriety test. The driver showed several clues and was arrested. The driver agreed to a breathalyzer test, the vehicle was towed and suspect was taken to the police department. After 20 minute deprivation period the suspect provided a breath sample with the results being .12. The suspect was released to the parent and charges were forwarded to JPO.

CRIMINAL PROPERTY DAMAGE

Jennifer Garcia,46, of Socorro was charged at 830 Lucero St. on May 23 for criminal damage to property.

BATTERY OVER BOYFRIEND

Officers on patrol noticed an argument at a local bar on 318 S California Street on May 24. Officers met with the victim who advised that the suspect struck her on the face and accused the victim of trying to steal the suspect’s boyfriend. The victim did have visible signs of battery. The officer met with the suspect who advised that she suspected the victim of trying to take her boyfriend so she hit her. The victim requested charges be filed and April Moya, age 38 of Socorro was charged with one count of Battery.

ROBBERY THROUGH DRIVE UP WINDOW

Officers called to 1102 N California St on May 24 when caller advised that an unknown suspect wearing all black and a mask broke a window in the drive up window and entered the building. The suspect went to the safe but was unable to enter the safe. The suspect took money from the tip jar and then left the business through the drive up window. The officer was not able to identify the suspect. The damage to the window was estimated at $600.

MISSING WALLET

Victim on May 24 advised officers she lost her wallet at an unknown location on an unknown date. The wallet contained her social security card, bank cards, gift cards and insurance cards. Victim advised the officer on another date that her card was declined on May 5. The officer met with the staff at the location and reviewed video. The officer was not able to determine who was using the bank card.

UTV ON HIGHWAY RESULTS IN FENTANYL ARREST

Officers located a UTV off the highway on 1005 Spring St on May 24. The officer conducted a traffic stop on suspect and suspect drive behind a residence and ran from officers on foot. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect. During a search of the suspect the officers located fentanyl pills consistent with distribution. The pills were taken as evidence and logged at the police department. The suspect was ran through NCIC and was shown to have a suspended revoked drivers license, arrest pursuant. Jose Andy Anaya, age 36 of Socorro was charged with eight counts of trafficking a controlled substance, eight counts of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, eight counts of driving while license was suspended or revoked and 8 charges of off-highway motor vehicles operation on streets of highways; prohibited areas.

TIRE SLASHED

Officers called to a scene at 431 School of Mines Road on May 25 when victim advised that a suspect damaged their car tire with a knife. The suspect was yelling and walked to the victims car, damaging the tire with a knife. The suspect was still standing near the roadway holding the knife and yelling. The suspect entered a vehicle and left. The victim advised the tire was valued at $150. The officer filed charges on Alex Montoya, age 26 of Socorro, for one count of criminal damage to property.

SUSPECT RUNS FROM WARRANT

Officers were advised of a suspect being on the property of 1731 Fatima on May 25. The officer arrived and the suspect began running. The officer advised the suspect to stop, when they stopped they were arrested for having a valid arrest warrant and suspect was booked at SCDC.

SUSPECTED DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

Officers were advised by a caller that a suspect on California Street on May 25 were not maintaining traffic lanes and may be intoxicated. Officers located the vehicle and completed a traffic stop. Officer noted signs of intoxication and asked suspect to perform field sobriety test. Officer noted several clues. The suspect was advised he was being arrested, the suspect was advised of the implied consent warning and agreed to a breath test. A 20 minute depravation period was observed and the suspect provided two breath samples of .01 and .01. The officer asked the suspect to submit to a blood test. The blood test was completed and logged as evidence.

ASSUALT ON LEROY AND BULLOCK

Officers were called to the area on May 26 for a victim being assaulted by multiple suspects. The officer met with the victims who advised that two suspects confronted the victims as they were walking. The suspect made threats so the victim advised he would give them money to avoid conflict. One suspect began hitting the victim while he was protecting his pregnant wife. The suspects left with the money. The officers were able to locate one suspect and detain them. The suspect had blood on his hands and was identified as the suspect. The case was turned over to NM Tech Police.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE LEADS TO WARRANT ARREST

Officer called to the area 409 Bullock on May 26 for a reported suspicious vehicle. The officer arrived and saw the vehicle leave the area. The officer conducted a traffic stop and suspect provided their driver’s license. A NCIC check showed the suspect had a valid arrest warrant. The suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC. The car was released to the passenger.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Officers called to the scene of domestic violence on May 26 at 924 S Highway 5. The officer was given a description of the male suspect leaving. The officer located the male and detained the suspect, bringing them back to the scene. The officer met with the victim who was missing a tooth and had red marks on her face. The female advised the suspect had gotten upset with her when she told him to leave. The male began hitting the victim and knocked out her tooth. The victim was seen by ambulance staff and declined transport to SGH. The male suspect denied any altercation. Ortega T Apachito, age 36 of Magdalena was arrested and charged with aggravated battery against a household member that caused serious injury and booked into SDCD.

ATTEMPTED BREAK IN

Officers called to 2079 Fatima on May 26 for a male and female trying to break into the property. The officer was given descriptions of both suspects and located the male suspect, who advised officers that he was working for the caller’s husband and left his bicycle on the property. The suspect dropped a bottle of methadone while speaking with the officer. The suspect was trespassed from the callers property and the methadone was logged into evidence for destruction.

MOTHER ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE

Officers were notified of a CPS intake report by a CYFD staff member requesting an officer to assist on a home visit at 110 B Street on May 27. The officer and CYFD staff member were able to locate the suspect sitting in her car at the residence along with her child. The suspect was advised of the allegations, which were drug use around the child. The mother consented to have a drug test completed on her and her child. The test was completed at Casa De Luz and results showed the child was positive for Buprenorphine and cocaine. The suspect was also positive for the same drugs as well as others. The child was placed in the care of family members. Leslie I Montoya, age 40 of Socorro was arrested on one count of child abuse.

VICTIM THREATENED

Officers were dispatched to 901 N California Street on May 27 to a male who said he was being run off the road by a suspect. Officers spoke to the victim who advised the suspect was trying to run him off the road while he was driving with his child. The victim said she also received several threatening text messages from the suspect that said his residence was going to be shot up. Suspect also threatened to harm the victim’s child. The officer obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. Angel Estrada, age 34 of Socorro was later found, arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault and three counts of child abuse.

INCARCERATED WARRANT SERVED

Officers served a warrant on 407 Center Street on May 27 to a male who was incarcerated.

FEMALE ARRESTED ON WARRANT

Officers were notified that a female with a district court warrant was at a local business at 700 6th St on May 27. Officers noticed the female who tried to walk away from the officer. Officer arrested the female on her warrant and female was incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

EMPLOYEES TRESPASSED FROM PROPERTY

Officers was on the scene at N California St on May 27 when the reporting party advised that two female employees did not turn over money paid by customers and were making threats towards the reporting party. The witnesses quit and left with the money. They later returned and were recording outside of the business and posted video saying the reporting party was buying pills from them. The reporting party advised another male was messaging them and making threats also. The reporting party advised he wanted the two trespassed from the property.

PROBATION OFFICER CALLS IN CPS INTAKE REPORT

Officers received a CPS intake report for a family at 200 South 5th on May 28. The allegation was that the father of the child admitted to using narcotics. Paraphernalia was found in the home by probation officers who called in the report. The officer met with the father who allowed officers into the home. The officer noted the home was being remodeled and was cluttered. The child’s room was also cluttered and needed to be picked up. The home had water and food with basic necessities. The parents were advised to clean up the home and officers were follow up.

WARRANT ARREST

Officer contacted a suspect at the residence of 1719b El Camino Real on May 28 for suspect having a valid arrest warrant. Officer confirmed the warrant and suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.

INCARCERATED WARRANT

Officer served a warrant on 102 Winkler on May 29 to a male who was incarcerated.

$900 IN DAMAGES

A caller at 1121 NW Frontage Road on May 29 advised officers that an unknown suspect spray painted the west side of the building and broke window glass on a door on the same side of the building. Officer was shown damage. Caller estimated the damage to be $900. There were no cameras that would show a suspect at the scene.

PROTECTION ORDER VIOLATED

Officers were called to a drive through restaurant on 1103 North California Street on May 29 where the victim was working. The caller advised that the suspect had an active protection order against the caller and her family, but that the suspect comes to the business where the caller and her family work. The caller advised the suspect saw the caller and began yelling at the caller and pointing. Caller requested the incident be documented.

WARRANT ARREST

Officers at 1508 Fatima on May 29 contacted a suspect for having a valid arrest warrant. The officer confirmed the arrest warrant and suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.

SUSPECT DRIVING 80 MPH IN 35 MPH ZONE

Officers witnessed a suspect traveling over 80 mph in a posted 35 mph zone and weaving through traffic. Officer completed a traffic stop, the driver advised he had dropped a drink on the floor and hit the gas. Aaron Julian, age 31 of Socorro was arrested and charged with three counts of reckless driving, three counts of no proof of insurance, and three counts of improper display of a license plate. Julian was booked at the SCDC.

WARRANT ARREST AT PROBATION/PAROLE OFFICE

Officers were called to 116 Mechem on May 29 for a suspect with an arrest warrant. The officer met with probation officer and was provided with an arrest warrant for the suspect, who was present. The suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.

SUSPECT FLEES DURING WARRANT ARREST

Officers located a female suspect at Spring Street and Eaton on May 30 who had valid arrest warrants. The officer attempted to make contact with the suspect and the suspect fled on foot and jumped fences. The officer caught up to the suspect and attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect resisted arrest and struck the officer. The suspect was placed in handcuffs and taken to SGH for medical. Deseray Edwards, age 25 of Polvadera was charged with four charges of battery of a peace officer, four charges of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, and eight warrant charges. Edwards was booked at SCDC.

WARRANT ARREST

Marco I Montoya, age 23 of Las Cruces was arrested at 409 West Place on May 30 for an active warrant and possession of a controlled substance.

TRESPASSER AT WALMART

Officers were called to Walmart for a trespasser. The officer was given a description of the suspect, who was then identified by the officer. The officer located the suspect inside the store. The suspect was detained and escorted outside. The suspect was known to be trespassed from the store. The suspect was then cited into court and released.
