VEHICLE WINDOW DAMAGED
On July 12 at 507 N 6th, a victim advised that an unknown suspect damaged their vehicle window with a rock. The officer was shown the damage to the vehicle. The victim advised the officer that they heard a scream at about midnight, but did not know what happened. At this time, there are no suspects.
TV AND OTHER ITEMS TAKEN FROM RESIDENCE
On July 12, a victim advised that an unknown suspect forced entry into a residence, taking a TV and other items, which are not listed. The victim also advised that roofing panels were taken from the property. There are no suspects at this time.
NEWBORN REMOVED FOR TESTING POSITIVE FOR DRUGS
On July 13 at 1202 Highway 60, an officer was called to a scene after being requested by a CYFD officer. The officer arrived and met with the caseworker, who advised him that he was needed to remove a newborn due to having a positive drug screen. The officer was shown the positive drug screen. The officer and caseworker then informed the mother of the results and explained that the newborn would be removed from her care. The mother provided the caseworker with a list of possible family members the child could be placed with. The officer signed a 48-hour hold form for the child and turned the child over to CYFD custody.
SUSPECT FLEES FROM POLICE
Officers attempted to stop a suspect for traffic violations on July 13 in the area of California and Church St. The suspect did not stop and fled from the officers. The officers located the abandoned vehicle and checked the area. Officers saw a male and female walking away from the truck. The officer yelled for the male suspect to stop. The officer lost sight of the male suspect and the female. Assisting officers advised that the vehicle was no longer on the side of the road where it had stopped. The officers went to the home of the registered owner of the vehicle, and it was parked with no one around. The officers towed the vehicle and located items belonging to the registered owner. The officer looked at a photo of the registered owner and identified the male as the suspect who was seen fleeing from the vehicle. Charges are pending.
NARCOTICS FOUND ON SUSPECT AT WALMART
An officer was called to a scene at Walmart, 700 N 6th, in reference to a welfare check on July 14. The officer arrived and noticed a vehicle parked in front of the store, still in drive, and the occupants were asleep. The officer woke up the occupants of the vehicle and had them exit the vehicle. The officer had the driver empty his pockets, the contents of which included narcotics. The officer placed the driver under arrest and searched his person. The officer then located drug paraphernalia on their person. The officer transported the male to the Socorro Police Department, where the narcotics were field tested. The field test came back positive. The officer transported the male to SCDC, where he was booked, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. John Wilson Kimble, age 78, of Socorro, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
GENERATOR STOLEN FROM STORE
A caller at 1100 NM Highway 1 on July 14 advised officers that an unknown suspect cut a hole in the fence of the store, entered the property, and then took a generator valued at $500. The caller located a set of bolt cutters nearby. The caller did not have any video of the incident, so no suspects have been identified.
WARRANT ARREST
Officers were patrolling on July 14 in the area of Spring and Center when they noticed a male with an active warrant for his arrest. The officer met with the male and confirmed the warrant. The officer placed the male under arrest and transported him to SCDC, where he was booked.
JUVENILE ATTEMPTS TO RUN VICTIM OFF THE ROAD
On July 14, in the area of Sean and El Camino Real, officers were advised that a suspect was following a victim and trying to run the victim off the road. The officer met with the witness and victim, who confirmed the incident. The suspect was contacted and placed under arrest with two charges of false imprisonment, two charges of domestic violence, assault, and aggravated. The 16-year-old juvenile was transferred to the juvenile detention center.
HOME BROKEN INTO
The victim advised officers on July 15 that their home at 409 Terry was broken into, and several items were stolen. The officer collected evidence left behind by the suspect and obtained DNA standards from the victim for comparison. The items were logged as evidence and sent to the lab for testing.
ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLE TOWED
Officers had a vehicle towed from the dirt lot between 6th and 5th street on July 15 because it was illegally parked. The owner was taken to SGH for medical treatment.
ARREST WARRANT
A suspect on July 15 was served with an arrest warrant at SCDC.
SUSPECT HAS NO VALID REGISTRATION OR INSURANCE
A suspect was contacted during a traffic stop on July 15 in the area of Plaza and Fisher. The suspect was unable to provide valid registration or insurance, and the suspect admitted to having been cited previously for the same infractions. The officer cited the suspect and towed the vehicle.
WARRANT ARREST
A suspect was contacted at the probation office at 106 Center St on July 15 for having a valid arrest warrant. The warrant was confirmed, and the suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
