SUSPENEDED LICENSE – Paul A. Torres, 35, of Socorro, was charged with driving while license was suspended and revoked following an incident that occurred at 8 pm. on September 19 on Franklin Street. His car was towed, and he was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

SHOPLIFTING – Rosemary Chavez, 47, of Socorro, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and shoplifting at John Brooks at 8:30 p.m. on September 20. When officers arrived, they asked Chavez to open up her purse and police found several items that had been paid for inside. Police asked Chavez if there was anything inside her purse that could get her into trouble and she stated, yes. The suspect advised police there was going to be narcotics in her purse. She was placed under arrest and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

OUTSTANDING WARRANT – Timothy James Gallagher, 47, of Socorro was arrested for an outstanding warrant at 8:15 a.m. on September 20 and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

BURGLARY – Police were called to a burglary in progress at 436 Terry Street at 1:23 a.m. on September 20. When the officer arrived, he was advised there were several subjects inside the home. Two victims escaped out of the back of the home. James Clifford Alton, 34, was captured after being tased. Alton couldn’t provide police the names of the other individuals, other than one had the nickname of “Dizzy.” The officer met with the victim, who advised police no items were taken, however a window valued at $200, was broken to gain entrance. Alton was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center where he was charged with four counts of burglary, breaking and entering, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, criminal damage to property and an outstanding warrant.

HOME INVASION – A resident in the 500 block of Park Street reported on September 21, someone had broken into their home using a pair of scissors to remove a screen from a window. and taken an Apple Watch. The scissors were recovered as evidence.

DOG ATTACK – A resident on Sunset Street reported he was walking near his home and passed through an alley on September 21, when several dogs exited a yard through a damaged fence. The dogs were aggressive towards the victim. The victim told police he threw rocks and yelled at the dogs. The victim showed the police where the dogs were seen. The officer checked and did not locate the running dogs. A report was sent to Animal Control.

SUSPENDED LICENSE – Gabriel Guerro, 27, of Socorro, was arrested for driving while his license was suspended or revoked at 9:54 a.m. on September 21. He was stopped on NW Frontage Road for speeding. His vehicle was towed and Guerro was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

BATTERY ON AN POLICE OFFICER – Andy Joe Anaya, 36, of Socorro, was arrested and charged with eight counts of Aggravated driving while under the influence (refusal to submit blood or breath), speeding 11 to 15 miles over the speed limit, battery on a police officer and escape the custody of a peace office during an incident at 11:08 p.m. on September 22. A police officer attempted to stop Anaya’s vehicle, but Anaya drove the vehicle to a resident on Spring Street. The officer saw the male switch seats with a female passenger. When Anaya attempted to exit the vehicle, he was detained by police and asked to perform sobriety tests. He refused and was arrested. During the arrest Anaya kicked the officer several times while he was being placed in the car. Anaya was advised of the implied consent warning and refused testing. He was taken to Socorro General Hospital for treatment. While there, Anaya was able to exit his hospital room and leave. The officer was able to locate him in an open desert area and capture him.

LOST KEY – A resident on Buena Vista Place reported a lost key to their vehicle at 2:03 p.m. on September 22.

DOG BITE – A victim advised police he was walking and was approached by a Labrador dog at 4:36 p.m. on September 23 at the corner of Leroy and the School of Mines. The dog was being aggressive, and the victim attempted to get away from the dog by jumping on an object, but the dog was still able to bite the victim. The victim advised police that a green SUV was following the dog. The victim declined to be taken to Socorro General Hospital. Police attempted to locate the dog and SUV was unsuccessful.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Larry Padilla, 61, of Socorro, was arrested at 11 p.m. on September 24 for possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center. Police spoke to a female who gave the officers a tip on a male who had narcotics. When the officer knocked on the door at Padilla’s home, he gave them permission to enter. When they made contact, Padilla had drug paraphernalia near him and on him. Padilla admitted to police to have drugs in his home.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Garrett C. Goeffrey, 41 of Truth or Consequences, was stopped for a traffic violation at 1 a.m. on September 25 at North Circle K. When the officer made contact with Goeffrey, she saw several piece of foil used to smoke drugs. When the officer asked Goeffrey to step out of the vehicle he noticed a pill, blue in color, on the foil. The officer arrested Goeffrey and noticed another blue pill when he retrieved Goeffrey’s cigarettes from the care. Goeffrey’s car was towed, and he was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

STOLEN VEHICLE – Ryan Lopez, 43, of Socorro, was charged with unlawful taking of a vehicle, at 2:09 p.m. on September 25. According to the police report, police were called to 1210 Spring Street for a stolen vehicle. The officer spoke with the vehicle’s owner who said the vehicle was left at a residence however, when they checked the vehicle was missing. The officer spoke with the owner’s daughter who had a message from a male claiming he removed the vehicle.

BATTERY ON A POLICE OFFICER – Angelica Celine Lucero, 27, of Socorro, was charged with six counts of battery on a police officer and three counts of domestic violence during an incident that occurred at 11:30 p.m. September 23, on Tierra Bonita Street. She was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

DRIVERS LICENSE SUSPENDED – Edward Baca, 57, of Socorro, was arrested after a traffic stop at the corner of Cuba and Delores. Police stopped the Baca who was driving a truck and pulling a trainer. Baca was driving with a suspended license and an arrest clause. Baca was arrested and his vehicle towed. He was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Jimmy Paz, 70, homeless of Socorro, was arrested at 7 a.m. at a resident on Mt. Carmel Street for trespassing. When the police contacted Paz, he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect removed a baggie with crystal substance in it and threw it on the floor. He was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal trespass/not posted. He was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Timothy James Gallaher, 47, of Socorro, was charged with criminal trespass, not posted at 11:55 a.m. on September 28. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

SHOPLIFTING – Michael A. Strahan, 37, of Socorro, was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart for not paying for several items of merchandise. He also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT – Timothy James Gallagher, 47, of Socorro was charged with six counts of disorderly conduct and three counts of criminal trespass not posted after police were called to a building where the suspect, Gallagher, turned off the power and left the property. The caller provided police with a description of the suspect.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – Joshua Sisneros, 31, of Polvadera, was charged with aggravated assault after an incident at 1000 Cuba Road at 9:40 a.m. on September 30.
