DOMESTIC BATTERY – Jacob Anthony Jojola, 24, of Socorro, was charged with domestic battery after an incident at 112 B Street at 7:40 a.m. on October 3. The suspect left the home when the police were called.

BURGLARY - A resident at 520 Spring Tri D called police at 10:41 a.m. on October 3. While on vacation, the resident reported that his home had been burglarized.

STOLEN TRUCK – A resident at 407 Center Street reported to police at 3:03 p.m. on October 3, his truck was stolen while he was in jail. The caller advised he found the truck at a tire shop on State Road 1. A female had sold the truck to the shop’s owner for $200. The officer completed the check and found the truck was registered with the caller’s daughter. The caller was asked to have the daughter call in to report the vehicle stolen and sign a theft declaration since she was the owner. The caller advised he no longer wanted the truck reported stolen.

VEHCILE VANDALIZED - A victim at 501 Bullock Street reported when he returned home at 5:30 p.m. on October 3, he found the trunk open on their vehicle and a Kicker Subwoofer and amp were taken from the vehicle. The items were valued at $400.

MAILBOX VANDALIZED – A resident at 1212 El Camino Real reported to police someone had been tampering with a mailbox that belonged to her on October 4 at 11:10 a.m. The reporting party stated that the female suspect had tampered with her mail more than once. The office took the report and attempted to locate the suspect. Chief Angel Garcia advised the victim, they should visit with the US Postal Service to see if they would want to investigate as the mailbox belongs to them.

FENTANYL FOUND – Police were called to the Tire Shop in reference to an employee finding a small baggy containing small blue pills believed to be fentanyl. The officer could not determine who they belonged to, so he placed the pills into evidence for destruction.

SHOPLIFTING – Police were called to Circle K, 924 US Highway 85, for a report of a female suspect shoplifting from the store on October 5. The female suspect threw a drink on the caller, exited the store and entered a vehicle. A license plate number was provided to the police but it was not on file. The suspect was not able to be identified.

FIGHT – Police were called to Calle Bonita at 2:06 a.m. on October 7 for a possible fight and to address a break-in. Officers arrived and located a male matching the description. The suspect was detained and questioned. An assisting officer located a black beanie hat with a syringe with liquid and several foils of drugs inside. The suspect told police the syringe contained methamphetamine, but it belonged to a female not at the scene. The suspect had other belongings in the area. The owner of the property was contacted and was advised the suspect did not have permission to be on his property. The suspect was taken to the police department and later released pending charges.

SHOPLIFTING – Ashley Romero, 41, of Albuquerque, was changed with shoplifting at Walmart Supercenter at 5:19 p.m. on October 8.

PROPERTY DAMAGE – An officer was dispatched to 1419 West Blue Canyon Road at 5:50 p.m. on October 8 for damage to property. The officer met with a female who said her sister had damaged a rose bush and lights at her residence. The female didn’t have any proof it was her sister, but she said her sister is jealous of her and would damage her property.

SHED VANDALIZED – A resident at 1212 El Camino reported to police their shed was broken into, and tools were taken. The officer was shown a broken window and a broken clock on the shed. The victim valued the tools at $600. Currently there are no suspects.

STORAGE CONTAINER VANDALIZED – A victim living a 417 North California reported their storage container was broke into outside the business on October 10. The suspect took a set of knives and caused damage to the storage container. The victim had a video of the storage but did not show anyone breaking into the storage container.

TOOLS STOLEN – A resident at 814 C Chaparral told police he was gone overnight and when he returned to his residence his tools were taken and a shed vandalized. The victim listed chainsaws, a welder and other tools were missing. Currently there are no suspects.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY – A caller reported on October 11, a vehicle being driven the wrong way on California Street. The officers found the vehicle and stopped the RV. The male was non-compliant and appeared confused. The officers were able to locate some insulin in the RV. An ambulance was called to treat the male.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Virgelyn F. Vergara, 31, of Socorro, was charged with criminal trespass/not posted at noon on October 12 at Walmart. An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to trespassers. Then he arrived at the scene he met with asset protection who state there was two females inside the store and one of the females had previously been banned from the store from a prior incident. The other female had a backpack which appeared full. The officer contacted the females and escorted them into the AP office. One female was released and the other cited with trespassing.

TOOLBOX TAMPERING – A resident at 640 Highway 60 reported on October 13 some of his property had been tampered. The reporting party believed the neighbor had been tampering with his property and attempted to break into his locked toolbox.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT – Charles Valenzuela, 41, Socorro, was charged with two counts of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after an incident at 12:37 p.m. on October 15. Police were dispatched to the corner of Hope Farms Road and Hidden Lane for a welfare check on a male bleeding from his hand. The officer arrived and contacted Valenzuela who also was a suspect on a prior call. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

POLITICAL SIGNS – Caller told police she wanted the political signs removed from her fence at 303 School of Mines, that someone had put up on October 16. The officer documented the incident.

SHOPLIFTING PENS – A caller at Dollar General at 919 North California Street reported a individual was shoplifting pens from the store at 2:25 p.m. on October 17. The suspect returned the items but then ran from the store. The suspect was not located.

GUITAR STOLEN – A resident at 519 Highway 85 reported his guitar was stolen from the Plaza in downtown Socorro at noon on October 18. He told the police he was getting some water and when he returned to his musical instrument and it was gone.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – Rosie Barela, 76, of Socorro, was charged with aggravated assault after an incident on October 19 at a residence at Buena Vista Place. An officer was called to the scene as Barela was throwing bricks at the victim. The officer met with the victim, who advised Barela was sitting on a motorcycle that was not hers and then got off and threw a brick at the victim. Barela had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

STOLEN LIQUOR – A store clerk at Circle K at 1001 North California Street, reported that an unknown male entered the store and took three bottles of liquor and left running at 9 a.m. on October 19. The clerk could not provide a description of the suspect.

FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD – Charges are pending against Angelo Fuentes, 24, of Los Lunas, with four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and four counts of remote financial services act on October 19, at Walmart Supercenter in Socorro. A victim told police she had lost her credit card at an unknown location. Fuentes used the credit card, then returned to Walmart Supercenter to return the purchased item. He told police he didn’t know the card was stolen and he thought it belonged to a friend’s girlfriend.

GUN STOLEN – A vender at the Gun Show at the Socorro County Fairgrounds reported to police a gun was taken from his table on October 20. The victim advised the building was locked at 5 p.m. on October 19 and opened at 6 a.m. the following day. At this time there are no suspects listed. A theft declaration was signed and the gun was entered with the National Crime Information Center.

TOOLBOX STOLEN – A resident on Franklin Street reported unknown suspects entered a vehicle on October 20 and took a USPS key and a toolbox from their vehicle. A second theft was listed where a package was taken from outside the home. The value of the items taken was $400. There are no suspects in the case.

LICENSE SUSPENDED – Scott Chew, 39, of Socorro was charged with two counts each of driving while license suspended revoked and turning movement and required signals.
