CAR WINDOW DAMAGED – A resident at 102 Winkler, reported to police at 10 a.m. on August 8, the rear window on her vehicle was damaged. The caller advised a city crew was cutting weeds in the area and may have damaged the car window. City hall was contacted, and a supervisor advised one of the crew members did break the window. The victim was advised to file an insurance claim with the city.
WARRANT – Neswood Adam Baca, 28, of Socorro, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) during an incident at 8:20 p.m. on August 8, at West Place. He was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
LARCENY – Patricia Padilla, 26, was charged with larceny at 12:55 p.m. on August 9 after an incident at the Dollar Tree at 319 Fisher, Socorro. According to the police complaint the office discovered a female was stealing money and returning items that were not actually returned. The store shared with the office a video of the female putting money into her clothing and pockets.
MOTORCYCLE TAKEN – A resident at 507 School of Mines Road reported a handgun and motorcycle was taken from this property at 3:57 p.m. on August 9. No suspect has been identified.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY – Stevie J. Bernal, 30, of Socorro has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and battery after an incident at 3;21 a.m., August 11, at 604 Reservoir. An officer was called to the area after a complaint of the suspect damaging the victim’s car. The officer met with the victim, who said she was dropping off a friend when the suspect began yelling and wanting to fight the victim. The victim told police the suspect began to throw cans at her vehicle. When the victim tried to leave, the suspect grabbed the door and pulled out a knife threatening to stab the victim. The victim was able to drive away when the suspect threw a brick and struck the victim’s vehicle causing damage. The suspect was not located at the time of the incident.
POSSESION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Adolfo Martinez-Rodriguez, 62, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and two outstanding warrants for his arrest after an incident at 106 Center Street at midnight on August 12. While placing the suspect under arrest, the officer located a dollar bill with a crystal substance later identified as methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center and the evidence was logged into the police department.
ASSAULT – A caller to the police department at 9 a.m., August 12, reported a victim was assaulted by suspects at a school bus top at the school. The staff at the school stopped the fight. The school’s administrative team took action with the students involved. The caller advised the victim was having problems with the suspects during the previous school year. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation Office.
TOOLS STOLEN – A overnight stay at the Super 8 hotel resulted in the theft of tools from a truck, on August 13. The victim shut the door to the truck however when he reached the job site, he noticed his tools were missing. The victim provided police with a list of stolen tools. The officer checked the area for cameras but did not locate any. Currently, there are no suspects.
LARCENY – Larry Padilla, 61, of Socorro, was arrested for two counts of larceny and aggravated burglary after an incident at 803 Spring Street, Apt. 8, after he allegedly helped with moving items in the victim’s apartment.
BRICK WALL DAMAGED – A resident on San Miguel Street reported a damaged brick wall at their residence at 7:30 p.m. on August 14. The officer did see where the wall was knocked over. Damage to the wall was estimated at $5,000.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Henry Larry Sanchez, 54, of Socorro, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended or revoked and no proof of insurance after officers spotted a traffic violation at 5:18 p.m., August 14, on El Camino Real. During a tow inventory, narcotics were discovered in the center console.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Pamela V. Godfrey, 63, of Socorro, was charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of receiving stolen property on August 14, after a search warrant was issued for her resident. During the warrant police located stolen items as well as drugs. Godfrey was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
BURGLARY – A homeowner on Calle De Sol reported more than $20,000 in items were taken from their residence at 4:48 p.m. on August 15.
MOUNTAIN BIKE STOLEN – A resident on Hope Farms Road reported to the police a mountain bike was stolen. The bike is valued at $250. There are no suspects at the present time.
ROBBERY – Anjelica Alicia Padilla, 33, of Socorro was charged with several counts of robbery (with a deadly weapon), false imprisonment, and aggravated battery, after an incident at 301 Fifth Street at 8:30 p.m. on August 17. She was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
CAMPER STOLEN – A 2016 Jayco camper trailer was reported stolen on August 19 from a lot at 209 California Street. The caller advised the hitch lock was cut to allow the unknown suspects to remove the camper.
SHOPLIFTING – Bartolo R Saiz, Jr., 30 of Socorro, was charged with shoplifting at Walmart at 10:07 a.m. on August 19. The caller advised police a male suspect in a red shirt was in the store and took two vehicle jumpstart devices from the shelf and left out of the back door on the business. The items taken were valued at $234.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN – Stevie J. Bernal, 31, of Socorro, was charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of unlawful possession of handgun after an incident at West Place on August 19. He was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
EMBEZZLEMENT OF A VEHICLE - Christopher Baca, 44, of Socorro, was charged with embezzlement of a vehicle. The victim was selling a 2000 Cadillac car to the suspect. The suspect test drove the vehicle and failed to return the car. The victim called the suspect to return the car, but Baca refused saying the “car was his now.” A theft declaration was signed and car was reported as stolen.
