LOST WALLET
A victim on Sept. 1 in the area of Center Street advised dispatch, according to a report, that they lost their wallet and its contents in a motel parking lot while loading other items into their vehicle. The victim states they drove off with the wallet on their vehicle.
FELON WITH FIREARM
Officers stopped a suspect on Sept. 1 in the area of Bullock Street, and according to the report, an assisting officer noticed a firearm in the rear seat of the vehicle. The suspect was believed to be a felon and prohibited from having firearms. The officers detained the suspect, Kimberly Starks, 39, of Socorro, and then searched the vehicle and located another gun and ammunition along with fentanyl pills. Starks was arrested and booked at the SCDC on two charges of stop/yield sign violations and two charges of possession of a controlled substance.
WOMAN BREAKING INTO CARS
Officers were called to the Socorro Electric Coop on Manzanares Street on Sept. 1 for a female on camera breaking into vehicles. According to the report, the officer arrived and could not locate anyone on the scene. The officer did find wire cutters and a flashlight. The officer was shown a video of a female in the secure lot attempting to get into vehicles, but the female was not identified from the video.
ALTERED BAT
An officer on Sept. 1 in the area of Highway 85 and B Street saw several subjects passing a baseball bat around. According to the report, the officer met with the subject and checked the bat. The bat was altered and weighed more than it should. The bat was then confiscated and logged at the police department.
VEHICLE STOLEN
On Sept. 2, in the area of Lewis Street, a victim advised that they had been gone from the home for a few hours. According to the report, when they returned, they noticed their vehicle was gone. The victim provided the vehicle information and signed a theft declaration, and the vehicle was entered in NCIC as stolen.
WOMAN URINATES IN STORE
On Sept. 2 in the area of North 6th Street, an officer was called to the store for a suspect urinating in an aisle and using the store supplies to clean up. According to the report, the officer met with an employee who directed the officer to two females. The employee identified the female suspect who urinated. The employee asked that both females be trespassed. The female suspect, Clara Padilla,42, of Lemitar, was checked through NCIC and had a valid arrest warrant. Padilla was also in possession of a syringe with clear liquid, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Padilla was processed and booked on two warrants and two charges of possession of a controlled substance.
SUSPECT CALLING VICTIMS WORK
A victim on Sept. 3 in the area of 1202 Highway 60 received a call from a female suspect claiming to be the victim’s mother. According to the report, the victim advised that the suspect asked for information on another person’s child. The victim put the suspect on hold and did not pick up after that. The victim advised officers that the suspect had called the victim’s work several times, harassing them. The officer advised that charges would be filed.
BREAK-IN
On Sept. 3, in the area of US Highway 85, officers were called to the alarm going off at the Good to Go convenience store. According to the report, the officer found the door to be partially open, and the officer checked and found the door was pried open but still secure with a bar. The assisting officers saw a male leaving the area. When the officers attempted to contact the male, he ran, but officers were able to detain him and advise him of his rights. The male was in possession of a pry bar with white paint. The suspect, Carlos Matthew Trujillo, age 22, of Socorro, advised that he tried to enter the building using a pry bar to break into the ATM. Trujillo was arrested and later booked at the police department for four existing warrants and four charges of criminal damage to property, four charges of attempt to commit burglary, four charges of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, and four charges of possession of burglary tools.
WARRANT SUSPECT HIDES IN BATHROOM
On Sept. 4 in the area of Gibson Cricle, officers assisted in checking a home for probation and parole. According to the report, the officers located the suspect trying to hide in a bathroom. The suspect was arrested, and a warrant was confirmed. The suspect was then arrested and booked at SCDC.
MAN PASSES EX’S HOME
On Sept. 4 in the area of Glanera, a caller advised that she had recently broken up with a suspect and the two had an agreement for visitation of their kids. According to the report, the suspect was now driving by the caller’s home repeatedly. The officer advised the caller on how to obtain custody paperwork through the court, as well as a protection order. The officer later located the suspect in the area and advised the suspect to stop passing by the caller’s home.
WARRANT ARREST
According to reports, an officer served a suspect with an arrest warrant at the court on Sept. 4.
MAN BREAKS INTO HOME
On Sept. 5 in the area of Peralta Street, a victim said that they were arriving home and found a suspect inside. According to the report, the officers arrived, and the suspect was gone. The victim advised that the suspect had placed several items near the exit as if they were going to be taken from the home. The officer attempted to locate the suspect in the area, and while doing so, was called back to the home because the suspect had returned to the residence. Officers were able to locate the suspect at the residence, but the suspect refused their verbal commands so less lethal force was used. The suspect, Julian M Silva, age 37 of Socorro, was arrested. Silva denied breaking into the victim’s home but was processed and medically cleared, then later booked at the SCDC on four charges of breaking and entering, four charges of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, four charges of burglary, and four charges of escape from jail. Silva also had four valid arrest warrants.
WARRANT ARREST
According to a report, an officer contacted a suspect at a residence for the suspect having a valid warrant in the area of Chaparral Street on Sept. 5. The suspect was arrested and later booked on the arrest warrant.
MAN THREATENS VICTIM IN RESTAURANT
Officers were called to a restaurant on Bullock Avenue on Sept. 6 for a suspect making threats with a knife. According to the report, when officers arrived, they gave the suspect orders to get on the ground, and they were then placed under arrest, and the knife was recovered from the suspect. The victim advised that the man entered the restaurant and was yelling. The staff gave the suspect a drink and advised the suspect to leave. The victim exited the restaurant and was then approached by the suspect, who asked him for a light. The victim did not have one, and the suspect began making threats with a knife. The victim entered his vehicle for safety and called the police. The suspect, Daniel Sosa, age 53, of Las Cruces, remained on the scene until officers arrived and arrested the suspect. Sosa was then processed and booked at SCDC on two charges of aggravated assault and two charges of disorderly conduct.
CHILD SHAKEN
Officers were called to a scene of a child non-responsive on Sept.6 on School of Mines Street. According to the report, the officer arrived with EMS, and the child was taken to SGH for treatment. The officer and staff were advised that the child was choking on milk. During an exam, the child was found to have injuries sustained due to being shaken. The father was interviewed and once again said the child was choking on a bottle of milk, and then he called the police. The child was taken to Albuquerque for treatment, and from there, officers were advised of medical exams showing damage to the brain. The officers completed a follow-up, showing the mother of the child, who was at work during the incident. The father was interviewed again and said that he was agitated over getting ready for work and having the child, and that when the child began to cry, he did shake the child. Officers staffed the case with the DA and obtained medical records. The father, Jose Amador Acosta, age 38, of San Antonio, was later arrested on a warrant for the two child abuse charges involving injuries to the child.
SUSPECT THROWS CHILD IN CAR SEAT
On Sept. 7 in the area of Gianrea Street, officers were called to a home for a suspect throwing a child in a car seat and getting into an altercation with a male victim. According to the report, the suspect left in a Chevy SUV. The assisting officers located the suspect and completed a traffic stop. The suspect said he arrived at the victim’s home to drop off his child, and as soon as he put down the child, he was struck by the victim and others, so the suspect then left. The suspect did have dry blood on his nose and mouth. The officers then met with the male victim and a witness. The victim advised that the suspect arrived and threw the young child who was in the car seat, and the suspect then began hitting the victim. The witness said he attempted to separate the suspect and victim but blacked out. A female witness who said she had seen the suspect throw the child in the car seat picked up the child and ran into the home. The officer noted there was a camera system, but found it did not record. The case was staffed with the DA, but no charges for domestic violence were approved.
WINDOW BROKEN
A victim in the area of N California Street on Sept. 7 advised that he had located a broken window in his office building. According to the report, the victim advised that he had video of the incident and a male and female leaving the area. The officer was shown a video of the incident, and the male and female were unable to be identified at this time. The replacement of the window is estimated at $100.
