Socorro Police Department
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Chad P Padilla, 32, of Socorro, was arrested on a warrant as well as being charged with a controlled substance after an incident reported at 4 p.m. on May 17 on Arroyo Drive. As the officer approached Padilla’s vehicle, he noticed a male smoking narcotics off a foil. The office placed the individual under arrest and requested to search his vehicle. Padilla refused consent. The officer had Padilla’s vehicle towed pending a search warrant. Once the officer obtained a search warrant a pill and glass pipe were found. The items were logged into evidence.
TRICYCLE STOLEN – Police were called to 703 Bursum at 6:22 p.m. on May 17, in reference to a stolen tricycle. The officer met with the victim who stated her tricycle was chained to a lawn chair near her front door. The victim provided the officer with a description of the tricycle valued at $400.
BURGLARY – Police were called to Arby’s, 1010 S. Highway 85, at 6:49 p.m. on May 17 in reference to a burglary. The reporting person showed police a video of the suspect approaching the drive-through-window and opening and closing it. A short time later, the female returns then enters the business through the window. The female takes food from the business valued at $502. Police were provided with a video of the theft and suspect.
MAILBOX DAMAGE – Police were called to SW Baca Street in reference to a community mailbox on May 18. When police arrived, a representative from the U.S. Postal Service told them the box was pried open and is unsure what was taken. The reporting person valued the box at $1,200.
SEXUAL ASSAULT – Police were called to Socorro General Hospital on May 18 in reference to a possible sexual assault.
STOLEN BIKE – A stolen bike was reported at 9 a.m. on May 18 at 900 Bursum. An officer met with the victim who said he had his garage door open and forgot to close it. The victim told police he heard dogs barking so he checked his garage and noticed his bike was missing. The bike was valued at $100.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS - Katrina I Melendrez, 32, of Socorro, was charged with criminal trespass/not posted reported at 2:14 a.m. on May 19 at 1207 NW Frontage Road. The officer was conducting a walk through of a property due to having problems with people staying in the storage sheds. The officer located Melendrez in a storage shed and asked her to leave the property. A short time later, when the officer returned, he found Melendrez sleeping on the property, again. The officer arrested Melendrez and transported her to the Socorro County Detention Center.
DOG BITE – An officer was called to 1140 Chaparral Space, Number 22, for a dog bite. Upon arrival an ambulance was treating the victim. The victim had visible injuries to his arms and hands. When the victim opened the door to the home, the two dogs began to fight. The victim sustained injuries trying to stop the dogs from fighting. The dogs were taken to the animal shelter for quarantine.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON PEACE OFFICER – Alvin Bruton, 41, of Spring Street, was charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and six counts of criminal trespass/posted from an incident at 11 a.m, May 19, at 1000 Cuba Road. Bruton came to sell items to the victim living at 1000 Cuba Road. The victim told Bruton to leave the property, but he wouldn’t. He wielded a knife and began very aggressive. He became more agitated when the victim said she was calling the police. Once police arrived, the suspect stormed out of the house while knocking all items off the railing. Bruton kicked a metal object and threw it at the officer’s car. Then he picked up a circular saw blade and continued to yell at and approach the officers. The officers were in their cars and backed into the street. Bruton then picked up the metal bar and took a hostile stance. Police deployed their taser and struck the suspect. Bruton was taken into custody and EMS was called. He was later taken to Socorro General Hospital where he was given a medical clearance and later booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Katrina I Melendrez, 32, of Socorro, was located sleeping on the property at 1261 NW Frontage Road at 7:35 p.m. on May 19. Melendrez has trespassed several times before and was arrested on the same property the night before. She was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
DAMAGED DOOR – Police were advised of an individual who had damaged four doors in the home of their rental property located at 121 Arroyo on May 20. The landlord was replacing the door and estimated the door damage to total between $1,200 to $1,500. Charges are pending.
STOLEN ITEMS – Police were called to 507 N. California at 8 p.m. on May 20 concerning a white SUV entering a storage unit on the property and taking items from it. The caller said the times were valued at $1,347 and provided police with a video of the theft and vehicle. The officer was not able to obtain a license plate for the vehicle or identify the suspect.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY – Jose Andy Anaya, 35, of Socorro, was charged with criminal damage to property after entering a camper trailer at 1005 Spring Street at 9:30 p.m. on May 21. According to the victim, Anaya entered the camper trail and began yelling at her son. The victim told police Anaya became aggressive when she confronted him. Anaya also unplugged her electricity to the home. Police met with Anaya who denied entering the camper tailer but did confirm he had an argument with the victim over bills, so he did unplug the electricity. Officers were called back to the victim’s camper trailer after a rock was thrown through the window of the camper. The officer spoke with the suspect, who denied breaking the window.
DOMESTIC – Officers witnessed a female suspect traveling south in a north bound lane of traffic, then head west on College Avenue on May 21. Officers completed the traffic stop and spoke with the female who told police she was arguing with her boyfriend and pointed at the individual walking in the area. An assisting officer met with he male, who was said he did have an argument with the female, and she struck him. The male said he had been dating the female for about four years. The female, Christine A. Clayton, 53, of Socorro, was arrested for two counts of domestic violence – battery, two counts of driving on roadways laned for traffic, and an outstanding warrant.
PUBLIC NUISANCE – Isidro Delgado, 89, was cited for a public nuisance after an incident in City of Socorro’s Plaza on May 21. An officer met with Delgado who told police he was not feeling well, thus he pulled down his pants and defecated in the park.
PUBLIC NUISANCE – Police were called to Socorro General Hospital for an incident of an unruly, high intoxicated male on May 23. Arrested was David Lamance, 47, of Socorro. He was removed from the hospital grounds and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT – Mieka Campus, 41, of Albuquerque, was charged with domestic violence after an incident at 604 South California Street on May 24, where she hit a male with a flashlight after an altercation. She was arrested and taken to Socorro County Detention Center.
DOG BITE – Police were called to Socorro General Hospital in reference to a dog bite. The victim said she was bitten while at her friend’s residence. The officer did see where the female had a puncture wound. The dog was placed into quarantine at Socorro Animal Shelter on May 24.
HARBORING OR AIDING A FELON – Officers located a vehicle belonging to a female who has a felony warrant at 222 Tamarack Street on May 24. When officers knocked on the door, the female suspect refused to open the door, but the officer was able to force a door open and enter the home. A male suspect ran from the scene but was stopped and arrested. The female also was arrested. As a result of the incident Mark Pacheco, 53, of Socorro, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and harboring or aiding a felon.
LARCENY – Jackie Lane Curtis, 70, of Socorro, was cited with larceny after two sawhorses were taken from a construction stie on May 26. The victim showed the officer a video of the theft. The officer could not identify the victim. Days later the victim told officers he located the suspect and the sawhorses. The officer met with Curtis, who said he thought the sawhorses were trash and took them. The sawhorses were returned to the victim.
ASSAULT – Raul Ganadonegro, 25, of Alamo, was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of resisting, evading or obstructing a peace officer on May 24 during an incident at 1140 Chaparral, No. 50. Police were called to a home where Ganadonegro was making threats and damaging property. The victim told police he was drinking with Ganadonegro, then the suspect began making threats to hit the victim. Ganadonegro then began hitting items around the home. When the officers tried to detain Ganadonegro, he began resisting and pulling away from the officers. He was placed under arrest and later booked at the Socorro County Detention Center.
LARCENY – Jose Andy Anaya, 35, of Socorro was charged with larceny at 4:30 p.m. on May 28 at 1005 Spring Street. The victim told police Anaya took a cooking disc and propane tank that belonged to them. The victim showed police a video of the suspect taking the items.
WARRANT – Scott Foulenfont, 32, of Socorro was arrested at 11:58 p.m. on May 29, for two outstanding warrants and possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to Socorro County Detention Center.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY – Brandon Saavedra, 41, of Socorro, was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center on May 29 after an incident at 502 Bullock Street. Witnesses at the site, told officers Saavedra choked the female victim and threw her to the ground. Saavedra then forced his way into the home, choked and struck the male victim. Two witnesses collaborated the victims’ statements to police.
ATV ON ROADWAY – Officers contacted a suspect on an ATV riding at a high rate on Main Street on May 29. The suspect was advised it was illegal to drive an ATV on the roadway. The officer towed the ATV and cited the suspect to court.
STOLEN PROPERTY – Police were called to 1012 California Street about a break-in on May 31. The victim told the officer he allowed the suspect to stay in his shed from time to time because he felt bad for him, but recently stopped letting the suspect stay in the shed. The victim stated he noticed the shed was broken into and believes the suspect and another male took tools and other property from the shed. The officer was waiting for the victim to provide a video.
