FIREWORKS – At midnight on July 1, police were called to a residence on State Highway 1 regarding firework explosions. The officer located vehicles with fireworks and contacted three individuals at the scene. No one was arrested, although one suspect had a valid warrant, but the warrant could not be located.

THEFT – Two computer tablets were reported stolen from a vehicle located at 507 N. California Street at 3:25 p.m. on July 1. The victim said he noticed his backpack was missing from the back of his vehicle the night prior but did not make a police report. The victim said he located the backpack earlier in the day but noticed both tablets were missing. The victim provided the officer with a location for the tablet. The officer went to a home and a male at the location said someone left the tablets at his residence earlier in the day. The male gave the two tablets to the officer to return to the victim.

NAILS IN TIRES – A resident at 216 Tornillo told police on July 1 they had found nails in their vehicle’s tires. The victim told police they were like the nails found in another flat tire. The victim named a person of interest and said the vehicle like the person of interest was in the area before the tires went flat, due to nails.

MISSING PERSON – A missing person was found at a local shelter at 10:19 a.m. on July 1, at 519 Highway 85. The missing person was taken to the police department where the reporting person was contacted. The reporting person met with officers in Truth or Consequences, N.M. to take custody of the individual.

BATTERY – Davin Hardin, 21, of Socorro, was charged with two counts aggravated burglary and battery and one count of unauthorized distribution of sensitive images on July 2. Hardin entered a home on the School of Mines Road at 2:20 a.m. The victim advised officers the suspect was hiding from the police and needed a safe place. The victim told the suspect to leave their home and then he asked the victim not to tell her daughter. The daughter was the suspect’s ex-girlfriend. Entry into the home was through an unlocked door. The victim gave police some Facebook messages from the suspect, revealing sexually graphic messages. He was later arrested on July 3. During the arrest, Hardin was found in possession of two handguns. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

ROCK THROWN – An unknown suspect threw a rock at a business located at 402 California at 8:26 a.m. on July 2. The rock didn’t break any windows; however, the suspect was seen on video but could not be identified.

EMBEZZLEMENT OF A VEHICLE – Charges are pending against Chris Vruno, 37, of Socorro, for embezzlement of a vehicle at 1206 Cuba Road, Socorro at 2:28 p.m. on July 2. The victim told police the suspect took their vehicle from their home after the victim woke up late for work. The two argued and the suspect told the victim to leave his home. The victim was gathering her belongings and contacted a friend to assist. When the friend arrived, she was told her vehicle was gone. When the suspect was contacted, he told the victim she could pick up her vehicle at the VLA. When the vehicle was located later in the day, the vehicle could not start due to the battery being disconnected and fuses removed.

WINDOW BROKEN – The Socorro Youth Center reported a window was broken on July 2. The value of the window was estimated at $200. Police were shown a video of two vehicles parked in the parking lot overnight. No suspects have been identified.

YARD SALE THEFT – A resident a 312 Center Street in Socorro reported that during a yard sale conducted on July 3, a male suspect was seen running from a table where a VR Headset was located as well as other items. The male took the VR Headset and entered a white BMW and left. The caller advised the car, and three males were at the property earlier but could not identify the males.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Shianna Apachito, 38, of Socorro, was stopped during a routine traffic stop on California Street on July 3. During the stop, Apachito advised police she did not have a license and was not the owner of the car. During a routine check, police found her driver’s license had been suspended. The police office asked Apachito to exit the car as well as permission to search the car. During the search, the officer located Fentanyl pills. She was arrested and taken to the police department for posession. Apachito was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, illegible plate that needs to be replaced and driving with a suspended license.

ELECTRIC BIKE STOLEN – A resident on School of Mines Road reported their electric bike, valued at $1,100 was stolen from the victim’s porch on July 3. The victim showed the officer a video of the theft.

SMOKING DRUGS – Police were dispatched to Loma Vista apartments in Socorro at 1:19 a.m. on July 3, to a report of a male smoking drugs in a parked vehicle. Arrested as Nikee Secatero, 37, of Magdalena. Secatero had a warrant for his arrest and was in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and incarcerated at the Socorro County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Lorenzo Kevin DeLaO, 35, of Socorro was charged with possession of a controlled substance while trespassing on private property located at 924 Highway 85 on July 4. The officer located DeLaO along with a second suspect. The officer noticed the suspect was looking at something when approached. The suspect handed the officer a foil and inside the foil were three blue pills identified as Fentanyl. He was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

BATTERY – Battery charges are pending against Cornita Mary Guerro, 50 of Alamo, after an incident at the Econo Lodge in Socorro on July 4. According to the police report, the victim and Guerro were fighting in the motel room. According to Guerro she was mad at the victim for drinking her beer. Both individuals were removed from the hotel.

TRESSPASSING – Barney G Garcia, 53, of Socorro, was detained but later released and issued a non-traffic citation, for trespassing on the property of Circle K, 924 U.S. Highway 85, on July 4.

CHARGES PENDING – Charges are pending against two individuals after a fight broke out at 5:56 p.m. on July 4, at the Socorro Rodeo Complex RV spaces. Both parties were separated after speaking with the police.

VEHICLE DAMAGED - A victim on Bullock Street reported at 9:20 a.m., July 5, told police they had left their vehicle with a family member and the vehicle was damaged. The officer observed damaged windows and nails thrown by the tires. The officer was given a possible suspect’s name but there was no witness to the incident. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000.

SCAM – A resident on Center Street reported to the police department on July 5 a possible scam. An officer met with the victim who stated someone had scammed him online for $15,000. The victim showed the officer of multiple transactions totaling $15,000.

VANDALISM – Police were called to the Walmart parking lot where a victim reported his windshield was broken while they were in the store for about an hour on July 5. The officer observed a small rock on the hood and the windshield broken. The officer attempted to review the store’s video, but the vehicle was parked too far away from the building.

CAR WINDOWN BROKEN – A resident of Manzanares Street reported hearing a noise outside their home at 8 p.m. on July 5. The caller told police when they went outside, they saw a male get on a motorcycle and flee the scene. The caller noted the rear window of their passenger car was broken out. A neighbor also collaborated on the victim’s story.

CONCEALING IDENTIY – Jesus Silva, 32, of Socorro, was arrested on two counts of an outstanding warrant, concealing identity and criminal trespass (posted) after an incident on July 5. Police were called to a residence on B Street where neighbors advised someone was seen crawling under their home. The officer crawled under the home and located Silva. Silva crawled out but provided the officer with the wrong identification, while resisting the officer. Silva was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

RESISTING POLICE OFFICER – Scott Foulenfont, 32 of Socorro, was arrested at the corner of Spring Street and Highway 60 on an outstanding warrant as well as resisting, evading or obstructing a police office on 10:40 a.m. on July 5. He was taken into custody and incarcerated at the Socorro County Detention Center.

SHOPLIFTING – An officer was called to 124 Plaza Street on July 6 in reference to a shoplifting incident on July 6. Arrested was Ariel Acosta, 33, of Socorro. He was taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

TOOLS TAKEN – A resident of Mt. Carmel Street reported tools from his garage were stolen on July 6. The victim told police he left the door open, and someone took all his tools. The victim provided police with a list of items that were taken. There is no suspect at the present time.
