OVERDOSE – During the early morning hours of November 1, police were dispatched to Clark Field for a male who was unresponsive. When the officer arrived, he noticed signs of an overdose. The officer gave the male a dose of Narcan. EMT arrived shortly after transporting the male to Socorro General Hospital.

DWI – Lenny Baca, 61, of Socorro, was charged with eight counts of driving while under the influence, no proof of insurance, no driver’s license and careless driving after he crashed into a guardrail at 3:40 p.m. on November 1 on the NE Frontage Road. The officer contacted the driver who refused medical attention but showed signs of intoxication. The officer performed field sobriety tests. Baca provided two breath samples with the results being .13 and .12. He was arrested and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

SHOPLIFTING – Police were called to the Walmart Supercenter for a female shoplifter on November 2. The suspect was identified and seen placing items into a backpack. The suspect was escorted to the office and advised she did not leave the store with any merchandise. The suspect was trespassed from the store and released.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS – Scotto Chew, 39, of rural Socorro, was charged with criminal trespass/not posted, after an incident on November 2, at Circle K at 924 Highway 85 in Socorro. The victim advised police Chew threatened the victim. The victim requested charges to be filed.

BREAK IN – A resident at 402 Pena reported at 2:40 p.m., November 4, an unknown suspect broke into the shed and took a diamond back mountain bike. The bike was valued at $200. There are no suspects.

EXTREME CRUELTY TO ANIMALS – Alfredo D. Lopez, 59, of Socorro, was charged with 8 counts of extreme cruelty to animals and four counts of tampering with evidence after an incident reported at 20:54 p.m. on November 4, at 803 Spring Street. Officers were called to the apartments on Spring Street for a male suspect injuring a cat. When officers arrived, a witness told them they heard banging on a wall and a cat screaming. The witness then looked outside, and saw the suspect throw the cat on the ground. When officers asked to look inside the residence, Lopex became agitated but allowed officers to inspect the home, where they saw blood on the floor that was being cleaned up. Lopez was arrested and alter booked at the Socorro County Detention Center. The cat was left with a family in the apartment complex who offered to care for the cat.

RECEIVING/TRANSFERRING A STOLEN VEHICLE – Jose Rueben Benavidez, 48, of Socorro, was charged with four counts of aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer as well as four counts of receiving or transferring stolen vehicles, after an incident at 1:31 p.m. on November 4. Officers located a stolen vehicle on Spring Street after attempting to make a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, Benavidez fled. A passenger in the vehicle threw a gun out of the car that was recovered by a witness and turned over to police. Officers were able to obtain a video from a store where the suspect was seen and identified in possession of the car. The officer located the vehicle the following morning and found a video of the suspect and a female walking away from the car. The car was towed and charged were filed on Benavidez.

TOOLS STOLEN – A resident on bee Court told police at 4:24 p.m., November 4, someone broke into his shed and took several tools. The victim advised his camera system was not working during the incident. The victim checked the area and found his tools on the other side of his fence after filing the report. The tools were recovered.

BBQ STOLEN – A resident on Neel Street told police someone entered their yard and took a BBQ grill valued at $100. According to the report, the grill looked like it was taken from a back yard and drug into an alley way behind the home.

ABUSE OF 911 SYSTEM – Leroy Angel Christopher Saavedra, 37, of Socorro, was charged with Abuse of 911 System for make calls to police concerning people hiding in the bushes near his home. The officer was aware of the suspect calling 911 on several other occasions and during this contact, the suspect was under the influence of narcotics. He was arrested and later booked into the Socorro County Detention Center on November 5.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – Police contacted Jimmy Paz, 70, homeless, who was in possession of a controlled substance and a warrant for his arrest at 12:56 p.m., November 6. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

WINDOW DAMAGE – A resident at 604 Reservoir Street reported to police at 12:30 p.m. on November 6, a window was damaged on a police vehicle belonging to New Mexico Tech Police Department. There are no suspects.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – Julius Kurt Betone, 35, of Socorro, was charged with two counts of domestic violence -battery as well as two counts of criminal damage to property of household member and deprivation of property of a household member, after an incident at 7:33 p.m., November 6, at a resident on Church Street. Betone was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

BREAK IN - A resident on Mt. Carmel Street reported a break-in to their home at 9:30 a.m. on November 7. The victim showed officers the front door was the main point of entrance into the home. Stolen were hair clippers and several pairs of shoes. There are no suspects.

SHOPLIFTING – Three individuals were each charged with two counts of shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting more than $2,600 worth of tools from the Tractor Supply Store in Socorro on November 7. Charged were Michael Glisper, 43, of Abilene Texas; Tomas C Miller of Los Lunas; and Joshua Anthony Greken of Bosque Farms. All three suspects were arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUSBTANCE – Jose Rueben Benavidez, 48, of Socorro, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and also charged with possession of a controlled substance at 11 a.m. on November 8. When he was arrested on the outstanding warrant, officer located a baggie with several blue pills that were identified as fentanyl. He was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY – A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested at 1:04 p.m., November 8, at 104 McCutcheon Ave. and charged with five counts each of battery on a health care personnel, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, assault on peace officer/failed battery, and criminal damage to property. The suspect was transported to a juvenile facility.

POSSESION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – George Monte, 23, of Socorro, was found with suboxone strips in his shoes while at the Socorro County Jail. He admitted to bringing in the suboxone strips to sell. The evidence was turned over to police and he was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of bringing contraband into place of confinement on November 8.

DOGS KILL LIVESTOCK – A resident on Cuba Road reported the suspect’s dogs killed several of his goats and a ram and injured several others on 11:34 p.m. on November 9. The victim was able to catch the dogs and take them back to the owner. The dogs had blood on them. The owner of the dogs was not contacted. The victim valued the deceased animals at $1,750. The injured goats will be checked by a veterinarian and the billed turned over as evidence. The victim advised officers two more goats died due to injured sustained in the dog attack.

HOME BREAK IN – A resident on Highway 60 reported that someone had broken into their neighbor’s home while they were gone on November 11. An officer checked the home and noticed the front door was forced open and a footprint was on the door. No suspect was found in the home. No items appeared to be taken at the time. When the homeowner returned they called the police and reported $600 worth of jewelry was taken from the home but a suitcase and a weed trimmer were left at the home. The victim advised the original caller had seen a male and female with the suitcase that was left at the home. The two suspects have not been contacted.

BUSINESS BREAK IN – A business located at 1107 S. California Street, reported at 8:03 a.m. on November 11, someone had broken the entrance’s glass door to enter the business. The suspects stole several packs of cigarettes and threw candy on the floor. Later the business provided information on three possible suspects to the police.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – Selina Saavedra, 25, of Socorro, was charged with two counts of domestic violence battery, after an incident was reported at 8:15 a.m., November 12, at 606 Ivy Street, Unit 1. The officer met with the suspect and the victim. Both had signs of an altercation. Saavedra was arrested and booked Socorro County Detention Center.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY – Police were called to a shooting at 213 Silva at midnight on November 14, where two males received gunshot wounds following an altercation with Leonardo Perez, 20, of Socorro. Police were told by the suspect he was fighting with his girlfriend over a child. A physical altercation took place, and the female was pushed out of the residence. The female called her brother who arrived a short time later with another male. The suspect, located inside the residence, fired several times striking both males. Both males were taken to Socorro General Hospital. The officer was able to secure a rifle from inside the residence as well as a search warrant for the residence. Leonardo Perez, 20, of Socorro, was charged with 20 counts of aggravated battery (deadly weapon), 10 counts of aggravated assault against a household member with a deadly weapon, 30 counts of assault with intent to commit a violent felony, 10 counts of shooting at or from a motor vehicle (great bodily harm), 10 counts of child abuse and 10 counts of battery against a household member. He was arrested and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

VANDALISM ON CONSTRUCTION SITE – A victim notified police a lock on a fence was cut at a construction site on Reservoir Road at 9:53 a.m. on November 14. Someone had apparently entered a home that was under construction and took heating and colling combination units, a water heater and a hand cart from the home. The value of the items stolen was $7,000. There are no suspects at the present time.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLED SUBSTANCE – Norton N. Apachito, 41, of Magdalena, was arrested after police were called about an individual breaking into vehicles at Walmart, at 6:46 p.m. on November 14. Apachito was found and police indicated he showed signs of being under the influence of a narcotic. When asked by police about his behavior, the Apachito produced a baggie with a crystal substance. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Socorro County Detention Center.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – Valente Silva, 23, of Socorro was arrested at 9:45 p.m. on November 14, at 119 Juniper on a domestic violence, battery charge.

BREAK IN - A residence at Nicholas Space in Socorro, reported that more than $5,750 worth of merchandise was taken from their residence on November 15. The victim advised police he had a video of the incident and would provide it to officers.

SHOPLIFTING – Frank Robert Boucher, 29, of Socorro, was charged with shoplifting at the Dollar General store located at 919 N. California Street in Socorro. Boucher allegedly stole a cell phone still in its packing from the store. The phone was returned to the store and was valued at $39.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – Fabian Marc Otero, 26, of Socorro was charged with numerous domestic violence after an incident on B Street at 9:18 a.m., November 17. The victim told police Otero became upset after the victim declined to have sex. He then allegedly choked the victim and threw a game console at them. The victim showed police various bruises on her arms and threatening messages that were sent to the victim by Otero, who is charged with 10 counts of domestic violence – battery; five counts of intimidation of a witness/not to report; and 10 counts of domestic violence – assault, aggravated. Police filed an arrest warrant on Otero.

RESIDENCE REPORT GUNSHOTS - Residents on Reservoir reported to police they heard several gunshots in the area at 9:16 p.m. on November 18. An officer met with two residents, one who had a bullet break a window. The victims did not know who fired the gunshots. Three other residents reported a bullet broke a window as well as truck the exterior of their home. Another bullet was found outside the home and was collected as evidence. Officers located 11 spent shell casings in the area and collected the casings as evidence. No cameras were in the area that would aid in identifying a suspect.

DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE – Joseph E. Medina, 57, of Socorro, was charged with two counts of driving while license was suspended or revoked and two counts of speeding 1 to 10 miles per hour over the speed limit after he was stopped for a traffic violation at 11:18 a.m. on November 18, at the corner of El Camino real and Sean Street. Medina had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and failed a field sobriety test. The suspect provided a breath test of .01.

OUTSTANDING WARRANT – Desiree Jaramillo, 38, of Socorro was arrested for an outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 12:03 a.m. on November 19 on Peralta Street. She was taken to Socorro General Hospital where she was asked if she had any contraband. She turned over a container with methamphetamine and removed a small blue pill before she swallowed it. She told police the pill was fentanyl. She was medically cleared and booked into the Socorro County Detention Center.
