Published Modified

A letter from Socorro Schools superintendent Aubrey Tucker was sent to parents on Thursday, Oct 3, regarding an incident that occurred at Socorro High School during a middle school football game on Wednesday.

“We are working closely with Superintendent Chavez, and I truly appreciate the response and commitment from the city, sheriff and New Mexico State Police,” Tucker said.

In the letter, he said a police presence would be at the high school as a precautionary measure.

“Socorro Consolidated School District staff and our community partners remain vigilant in maintaining a safe environment for students, the public, and our guests that visit the sites. I would like to render my sincere apologies to the district of Cuba schools for the incident . Superintendent Chavez and I have been in constant communication. The School District will be re-assessing its protection of locker rooms to avoid a repeat incident.” Tucker wrote in the letter.

Tucker said the incident is under investigation, and more information will be shared as soon as it is completed.
