Glenice was born June 17, 1947 in Socorro and although she lived in many places, she always called Socorro home. She lived a modest life, but no matter what she had, if someone needed it, generously she would share it with them. She opened her home to everyone and all the neighborhood kids called her mom. She found joy in visiting with friends and family as to her, everyone was potentially family.

Throughout her life, she loved many things. Beyond the obvious love of family and friends there were few things she loved more than music. A fan of old-time country music which she knew the words to all the classics. She was also quite the dancer and loved to dance traditional country dances but the waltz was her favorite. You could often find her dancing at the county fair, in a parking lot or drive through and most often in her kitchen. Glenice had a wonderful sense of humor and brought laughter wherever she went. She cherished sharing jokes and silly stories as she was always ready with one to share with those she conversed with. She loved flowers and gardening and, watching the hummingbirds gather in the mornings and evenings.

Glenice had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel which led her on countless memorable experiences. She relished trying new and exotic foods, taking peaceful drives along the ditch bank, going 4-wheeling, enjoying picnics in Water Canyon, celebrating Mardi Gras, and taking cruises. She enjoyed dressing up, looking her best, reading, and traveling to faraway places through the books she loved. Her time with the Sassy Classy Red Hats and her Wednesday outings brought her much happiness. She appreciated a lively card game, a good potluck, and especially a dish of ice cream. Her warmth, curiosity, and laughter made life brighter for all who had the privilege of knowing her. One of her favorite sayings, “I’m glad you got to see me,” perfectly captured her lighthearted, one-of-a-kind spirit.

She lived life entirely on her own terms—unapologetically, joyfully, and without a rule book. She loved deeply, laughed often, and embraced a simple and genuine way of living. She will be dearly missed.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Presbyterian Main Hospital in Downtown Albuquerque for their exceptional care, and to Matt O’Toole and Alvin Phan for their support of her well-being closer to home.
