It is with great sadness that on October 15, 2025, Jeffrey VanWinkle passed away at the age of 52.

Jeff also leaves behind a circle of friends who were more like family.
Jeff met his wife Sarah while they were both attending Western New Mexico University. This is where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. This began Jeff’s career.
Jeff retired after 22 years of distinguished service in the Corrections System in Arizona. He began as a prison guard and due to his strong leadership and work ethic he was swiftly promoted in 12 years to Warden. After his retirement, Jeff worked for NaphCare, where he continued to be a leader, mentor and someone others deeply admired and respected.
Jeff was very competitive and loved sports. He played High school Football and Baseball. Jeff was the starting catcher for the 1990 Magdalena NM Baseball team which gave Magdalena their first State Championship ever in any sport. Jeff went on to play college football for both Highlands University and Western University in New Mexico. He loved to cheer on his favorite Teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The only thing he loved more was watching his daughters play volleyball.
Jeff always enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards or games, hanging out at the cabin, riding in the side-by-side and motorcycle road trips with his dad and brother.
Jeff will be remembered for his kindness and quick sense of humor. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Above all else, his wife and daughters were his heart. They meant everything to him and brought happiness to his life.
