Joe Raymond Turrieta 1954 - 2024

In the early morning of November 5, 2024, Joe Raymond Turrietta, age 70, passed away after a battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Socorro, NM, to Florencio Turrietta and Ascencion Montoya on August 26, 1954. He worked as a miner with a private contractor as well as being a wildland firefighter with the Forest Service. He also spent some time as a security guard at the White Sands Missile Range. In 1974, he married Irene, together, they raised three children, Jolene, Adam, and JR and spent 47 wonderful years together.

Besides being a hard worker, Joe was an avid hunter in his spare time. He always knew how to find the big mule deer! But nothing put a bigger smile on his face than spending time with his grandchildren, no matter what, he would make time for them.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; and two of his children, Jolene and JR.

He is survived by his ex-wife Irene; his son, Adam; several siblings; four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for Joe will take place on Monday, November 18, 2024, at San Miguel Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at 9:00 am, followed by a rosary at 9:30 am.
