TRESPASSER ARRESTED

An officer was called to the scene of a man trespassing in the area of Granada Park on July 6. When the officer ran the information through NCIC and was informed the male had an active warrant for his arrest. The officer placed the man under arrest and he was booked at SCDC.

BICYCLIST ARRESTED ON WARRANT

An officer on patrol in the area of Garfield Street noticed a male bicyclist commit multiple traffic infractions. The officer stopped the male and confirmed he had an active warrant for his arrest. The male was placed under arrest and transported to SCDC where during a search he was found to have narcotics in his backpack. Tan Phi Nguyen, age 58 of Socorro was booked at SCDC for the active warrant and one charge of traffic laws apply and one charge of possession of a controlled substance.

WINDOWS BROKEN

An officer was called to 836 Lucero on July 6 for property damage being committed. The victim stated that the suspect had broken multiple of the windows of his residence. The victim stated the suspect was still outside of the residence yelling that his daughter was inside. The victim was able to provide the officer with an estimate of damage valued at $245. Leroy Angel Christopher Saavedra, age 38 of Socorro was charged with two counts of public nuisance and two counts of criminal damage to property.

SUSPECT LOOKING FOR DAUGHTER BREAKS WINDOWS

Officers were called to a scene at 833 Granada on July 6 where a male suspect had walked into a residence. The officer looked for the suspect but was unable to locate him. In an area nearby the officer was called again for a male entering a residence saying his daughter was inside. The male allowed the suspect to check the house for his daughter but he did not find her, the male noticed a short time later the suspect had damaged a window on his property. Leroy Angel Christopher Saavedra, age 38 of Socorro was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property, two counts of criminal trespass, and two counts of public nuisance.

RECKLESS DRIVER ARRESTED FOR TAMPERING WITH INTERLOCK

An officer received a BOLO on July 6 for a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of Highway 85 and Meek St. The officer located a vehicle matching the description of the BOLO and after noticing a traffic infraction performed a traffic stop. The officer met with the driver and ran his information, the officer was advised of the driver having an interlock required drivers license. The officer requested the driver use the interlock to start his vehicle and noticed it appeared to be tampered with. The officer then read the driver his miranda warning and asked him why he tampered with his interlock, the driver admitted to tampering with his interlock due to it causing codes on his vehicle. The officer then placed the driver, Jared Kelly, age 49, under arrest and transported him to SCDC where he was booked on two charges of driving while license was suspended or revoked, and two charges of driving on roadways laned for traffic.

MALE SLEEPING OUTSIDE OF HOME

Officers were called to a scene on July 7 on 910 B North 6th St for a male sleeping outside of the home. The suspect was contacted and then removed.

PACKAGES STOLEN FROM YARD

An officer was dispatched to a residence on McCutcheon on July 7 regarding a reported theft. The reporting party stated that two packages were stolen from her yard earlier that day. The packages were valued at approximately $60. The officer reviewed security footage provided by the reporting party, which showed two females taking packages from the yard. Jennifer Garcia, age 46 of Socorro, was charged with one count of larceny and one count of criminal trespass. Sandra A Carrilo age 53 of Socorro, was charged with two counts of larceny and two counts of criminal trespass.

JUVENILE DRIVING RECKLESSLY

On July 7 in the area of 5th St, an officer observed a vehicle speeding well over the posted speed limit and driving recklessly. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle but the vehicle fled from the officer. The vehicle then swerved across lanes, continued to speed and eventually came to a stop after hitting a concrete barrier. The juvenile driver then fled on foot into Walmart. The officer followed and eventually was able to apprehend the juvenile. During the arrest, the suspect expressed suicidal thoughts, after consulting the District Attorney, charges of aggravated fleeing, reckless driving and resisting arrest were recommended. However, the JPPO Chief determined the suspect did not meet the criteria for booking and was instead transferred to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

DUI WITH OPEN CONTAINER

An officer observed a vehicle on California St on July 8 traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually stopped, and the driver was placed under arrest for reckless driving. The officer had prior knowledge that the male driver’s license had been revoked due to DUI. During the officers investigation, they detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s person and found open alcohol containers in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for reckless driving and a DUI. During field sobriety tests the driver exhibited multiple signs of impairment, the driver initially refused a breath test but later provided samples which registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18. After a medical clearance the driver, Jordan Torres, age 22 of Polvadera, was transported to the county detention center for booking and charged with four counts of aggravated driving while under the influence (BAC of .16 or higher), four counts of open container, four counts of reckless driving and four counts of driving while license was suspended or revoked.

CHECK TAKEN FROM HOME

Officers were dispatched to a residence 407 Center St on July 9 regarding a report of fraud. The reporting party stated that a check was taken from their home and later cashed without their permission. The reporting party suspected that an individual who had prior access to the home had taken the check. The check was made out to a third party and cashed at a local bank. The reporting party provided documentation and expressed an intent to pursue charges. The officer advised the reporting party that a subpoena would be requested to obtain bank surveillance footage.

FENCE CUT, ITEMS TAKEN FROM PROPERTY

An officer was dispatched to 501 Otero on July 9 in reference to stolen property. The reporting party stated that the fencing of the property had been cut and several items were taken, the value of the items was approximately $2,572.69, as well as an estimated $400 in property damage. No surveillance footage was available.

BABY GOATS KILLED BY DOG

On July 9 at 921 Otero officers were called out for a victim who advised that a suspect’s dog was in their yard and had killed two of their baby goats. The officer met with the suspect who lived next door who admitted his dog got loose and killed the goats. The suspect agreed to pay for the goats and the officer took the dog to the animal shelter.
