Apachito inks letter of intent to play at Trindad College

Alamo Navajo all-star basketball player Hailey Apachito had a big week with the announcement she will be playing college basketball, and she’s also receiving an outside scholarship.

Apachito received the Clint Benjamin Memorial Scholarship from Si and Cassandra Benjamin last week, which will help defray her expenses of attending school and playing basketball for Trinidad State College in Trinidad, Colorado.

As a senior, Apachito played 21 basketball games with a broken bone in her foot as she battled to successfully lead her team to a district championship and a state tournament berth.

She capped her vaunted career in the New Mexico basketball all-star game by winning the three-point contest, beating both the boys and girls.
