Community track meet next Saturday
Socorro’s coach Beth Cadol.
Socorro Coach Beth Cadol announced the first-ever Socorro community track meet on April 5. The event is open to everyone—families, track alumni, adults, and kids. It will feature events from 100 meters to 1600 meters, including relays, long jump, discus, shot put, and softball throw for younger participants.
“We’re really excited to put on our very first ever Socorro community track meet, “Cadol said. “I want families to come out and try to run a four by 100 or put together a team with their friends. I would love for track alumni to come back because I know there are a ton of them in town; I want elementary kids out and toddlers out. It doesn’t matter. It’s for all, all ages.”
Registration begins at 9 a.m. on April 5, with events starting at 10 a.m. The goal is to get the community excited about the sport and enjoy themselves.
All the proceeds go back to the high school track team, both boys and girls. “We mostly just want the community to be excited about sports,” Cadol said.
