Cougars looking for wins in 2024
The Alamo Navajo football team’s goal is simple: to win a game. The Cougars haven’t won a game in four seasons.
Coach Wyatt Billy hopes a win is around the corner this year after the team came so close in a 56-54 loss to Navajo Pine last season.
“We’re all excited for this season. We got a lot of kids coming out, we a good turnout since the summer, and we’re ready to kick some butt this year,” Billy said. “Navajo Pine, that burned, and we’re using it as motivation this year.”
Size and numbers may play into the Cougars’ favor, but the biggest factors will be junior quarterback Scotty Guerro returning under center, senior running back Wyatt Hunter, and the size of the Cougars’ linemen, which includes junior Andy Pino at 6-1, 300 lbs.
“We’re more seasoned, and our players really want to get a win this season. I think it’s going to be a good year for us,” Billy said.
The Cougars’ 2024 roster includes Dreyvis Ganadonegro, Mathias Ruben, Ezekiel Vicente, Charles Abetya, Joey Padilla, Tramille Padilla, A’sheeh Baca, Zephyr Apachito, Wyatt Hunter, Diondre Apachito, , Rick Padilla, Pherrell Herrera, Japheth Padilla, Colin Mexicano, Andy Pino, Manueltio Apachito, Tony Tsosie, Cobre Mexicano, Jurrale Tsosie, Tilial Secatero, Mclane Guerro, Scotty Guerro, Elias Apachito, Perfecto Apachito, Matt Apache, Elias Edwards, Kayla Secatero, Zandrick Padilla, Erby Apachito and Lebron Monte.
