Current and former Socorroans ran in the Tortugas Mountain 24 Hour Challenge near Las Cruces Nov. 14-15. Runners completed as many 4-mile loops around the mountain as they could within the 24-hour period.

The race began at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. Serious competitors ran all through the night.

These runners took a more leisurely approach to the event, took about eight hours off for a full night’s sleep, had long breaks for proper meals, and Cadol even left early on Saturday to drive back home at a reasonable time. All runners still completed at least a marathon’s worth of running despite their breaks.
