Red or Green?

Several local basketball players and coaches received recognition for their strong seasons and careers.

Alamo Navajo guard Sapphira Sandoval and Magdalena wing Jorianne Mirabal played on the 1A-2A All-Star Game in Hobbs, with Sandoval representing red and Mirabal on green.

And Magdalena coach Jory Mirabal coached the 1A/2A boys red team and actually had the opportunity to coach longtime player, post Joseph Zamora, who was moved to red so they could be together.

Zamora also was named first-team All State, while fellow Steers post Jeffrey Stuteville was honorable mention.

On the girls side, Jorianne Mirabal was second team All State.
