SHS Swim team at APS Invite
The Socorro High School swim teams traveled to Albuquerque for the APS Invite #4 at Highland High School on Wednesday, Dec. 10. SHS swimmers will be traveling for all of their meets this year. They practice at the New Mexico Tech pool because it has the bubble for winter swimming, but swim meets will not be held there as the pool is not Olympic sized. This has not prevented Socorro’s swimmers from producing excellent results at away meets though.
Nine boys and four girls competed at the APS Invite #4, and they came away with many top-ten finishes. Socorro was third overall with two golds, three silvers, two bronzes and a score of 227. Riley Sewell earned both of those golds, one silver in a relay, and one bronze in a relay to help with 40 of the team’s points. Multiple swimmers achieved personal bests (PB) that day as well.
