SMS Braves Football

The Braves were tied up against T or C right before half on Sept. 10, but then they gave up two TDs on kickoffs, Coach Avalos said.

“Overall, the adjustments we made as a coaching staff are good. We will be ok. I am so proud of our kids and staff just caring about each other and not being selfish,” said Avalos.

They lost to the Tigers 36-18 in the away game.

They were scheduled to play at Ruidoso at home Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

SMS Lady Braves Volleyball

The Lady Braves Volleyball teams have played away four times the past two weeks. Their next matches are at home versus Estancia on Monday, Sept. 29 starting at 5 p.m.

High School Volleyball

Alamo-The Lady Cougars are now 5-1 on the season after a 3-0 win over the Mescalero Apache Chiefs on Sept. 12. They were scheduled to travel to To’hajiilee on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The Alamo team then travels to Mescalero for another match against their rivals on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Magdalena-The Steers beat the Socorro team in Socorro 3-0 last week to improve to a 4-2 record. Then they traveled to Mountainair to play the Mustangs on Sept. 15. They were scheduled to play Capitan at home on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The Steers will travel to Carrizozo to play against the Grizzlies on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m.

Socorro-The Lady Warriors suffered losses to both Magdalena and Ruidoso last week. The 1-7 team was scheduled to travel to Belen on Tuesday, Sept. 16. They also travel to Santa Fe to play Monte del Sol Charter on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.

Alamo Cougars Cross Country

The cross country junior high and varsity teams went to their second meet of the year at the Daniel Chinana Invitational in Jemez, at the Steven Gachupin Complex, on Sept. 6. The third meet was the Marilyn Cheromiah Memorial at Laguna Acoma on Friday, Sept. 12. Both the jv and the varsity teams traveled for that meet. Official results were not in yet for either event.

Their next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Rio Rancho Jamboree. Junior high and varsity teams will be traveling for that event.

NMT Rugby

Women’s: Their first home game will be Saturday, Sept. 20 at noon versus the NMSU Women Aggies team.
