The Owl Bar in San Antonio has once again carried out its annual Christmas tradition of taking down dollar bills from its walls to donate to local and national charities.

Throughout the year, patrons tuck bills into the bar’s walls, a quirky custom that has become a hallmark of the establishment. In December, the bills are carefully removed and distributed to organizations that serve children, families and the community.

The wall bills this year totaled $2,000.

This year’s recipients include St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, the New Mexico Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Carrie Tingley Children’s Hospital, Socorro Toys-4-Tots, the Animal Protective Association of Socorro, and Las Estancias Nursing Home.

The tradition, which blends holiday spirit with community generosity, has become a cherished part of the Owl Bar’s Christmas season.
