Socorro and Catron County candidates who filed for elected positions

Eleven candidate applications were submitted on the Tuesday, March 11 deadline.The elections on the Socorro ballot will include races for state representative, county assessor, county sheriff, magistrate judge and two county commissioner seats.

Running unopposed are incumbents Gail Armstrong, state representative, in district 49, Lee Armijo for county sheriff, John Aguilar for county commissioner and probate judge Gilbert Peralta.

The last day for candidates to file as a write in is March 17 from 9 a.m. to 5: p.m. in the County Clerk’s Office.

Socorro County Voting Information

The Last day to register to vote is Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 by 5 p.m.

Absentee Ballots will be available beginning Tuesday, May 5 and absentee applications will be accepted through Tuesday May 19.

Early in-person vote at the Socorro County Clerk’s Office, 200 Church Street, Socorro starts Tuesday, May 5 to May 30. Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Plus one Saturday only, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Magdalena Senior Citizens Center on 500 9th St. Magdalena, starts early in-person voting Saturday, May 16, 2026 to May 30, 2026. Plus one Saturday May 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Catron County Voting Information

Catron County Early and Absentee Voting

Early Voting will begin May 5, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Clerk’s Office. The last day to vote early is Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Absentee voting will begin May 5, and ballots must be received by the Absentee Board by 7 p.m. Election Day, June 2.

There will be Mobile Early Voting during the Primary Election. This will be held at the Quemado Community Center on May 18 and 19,from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Datil Fire Department on May 22 and 23, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Glenwood Community Center on May 26 and 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Election Day is on June 2, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at your regular polling place.
