THREAT MADE TO STUDENT
On Aug. 1, an officer at the Socorro Police Station took a report from a female who advised the officer that her son had received a threat from another student. The officer was made aware that the incident was reported to the school, but the parent wanted it documented by the police as well.
WOMEN FIGHT OVER PARKING SPOT
On Aug. 1, in the area of El Camino Real, an officer was called to the scene of a fight. The officers began separating female subjects. The officer detained the parties involved and was advised that one female had come to visit and parked in another person’s parking spot. An argument started, and then the fight started. The parties were later cited in court for battery.
SUSPECT DRIVES TOWARDS FAMILY
Victims in the area of 105 Bullock St advised officers that they were exiting the restaurant on Aug. 2 when a female suspect in a vehicle drove towards the suspect and her infant child. The victim handed the infant to the male victim and engaged in an argument with the driver that turned physical. When officers talked to the suspect, the suspect said that she was leaving the drive-through when the victims walked in front of the car. The officer was provided with video from the restaurant, but it does not show the incident. The case was sent to the DA’s office, but no charges were approved.
CHILD REMOVED FROM HOME
Officers were dispatched to a home for a 911 call with a young female possibly in distress. On South California St., officers arrived and checked the home, finding a 10 year old child. The child said she was fine, but officers noted the home was a mess and not suitable for living in. An adult male and female were also present in the house and found to both have warrants. The child’s mother arrived and was informed that the home was not suitable for the child and that the child would be taken from the home. The child was removed and turned over to the father, and the two suspects with warrants were booked at the SCDC.
MALE FOUND UNRESPONSIVE
Officers were called to a home for a male being unresponsive on Aug. 2. The victim was determined to be deceased. The family said the male was at the home and went to lie down, and drug paraphernalia was found next to the victim. There were no signs of injury seen, and the victim was taken to the funeral home pending autopsy.
WOMAN TRESPASSES AT HOSPITAL
Officers were called out to the hospital on Aug. 2 for a female suspect refusing to leave the premises after being discharged. The suspect was escorted outside and still refused to leave. Angel Anaya, 28 of Socorro, was arrested and booked on one count of criminal trespass.
MAN ARRESTED AT PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICE
On Aug. 3 a male was arrested at the Probation and Parole office and incarcerated at SCDC.
GO CART STOLEN FROM TRACTOR SUPPLY
An officer was called to Tractor Supply on Aug. 3 for a theft. The caller advised that an unknown suspect cut a hole in the fence and took a Coleman go cart from the property. No cameras showed the theft of the cart. There are no suspects at this time.
METHAMPHETAMINE FOUND DURING WARRANT ARREST
Officers in the area of 5th Street located a suspect with arrest warrants on Aug. 3. The suspect fled from the officers, and officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect. The officers located a backpack that the suspect had discarded, and inside, they found methamphetamine. The suspect, Joe Paul Blanford, 35 of Socorro, was processed and booked at SCDC for eight outstanding warrants, two charges of possession of a controlled substance, and two charges of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer.
MAN WITH DEMENTIA PICKED UP
Officers were called to a scene of a man being picked up and brought back to Socorro on Aug 4. The male appeared confused and did not know where he was. The officer was able to contact the family and was informed that the male had dementia. The male was taken to Socorro General Hospital, and his vehicle was turned over to his family.
WARRANT SUSPECT TURNS SELF IN
A suspect on Aug. 4 contacted the compliance office, suspecting they had a valid arrest warrant. The suspect’s warrant was confirmed, and the suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
MALE IN POSSESSION OF PILLS, METHAMPHETAMINE
On Aug. 4, an officer was called to the area of Giles for a scene where a male suspect was trying to hit females with his vehicle. The officer met with a female who advised that she had seen the male suspect in her mother’s truck with a female she did not like. The female and her friends confronted the suspect and followed his truck. The female and her friends stood behind the truck so the male could not leave. The officers located the suspect in a camper trailer, and the suspect was detained. While the officer was completing a pat-down for weapons, the officer saw a baggie with blue pills. They also recovered a second baggie with a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The suspect confirmed the incidents stated by the female, and drug charges were approved by the DA. Michael R. Patterson, 38, of Socorro, was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance.
ARSON
On Aug. 4 an officer was called to a home on School of Mines for a vehicle fire in a garage. The officer met with a victim who advised he came out to see his truck on fire and an Arby’s food bag in their garage area. The officer reviewed video footage of the suspect walking into the garage and leaving a few moments later. The truck bed was damaged and the officer obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. The suspect, Alejandro Paz, 65 of Socorro was found later at the site of a second fire on Buena Vista and admitted to the fires and was charged with two counts of arson.
DOG BITE
An officer was called to Socorro General Hospital on Aug. 4 for a male who was bitten by a dog. The victim and parent advised officers the victim was bitten while on Cuba Road. The victim did not know who the dog belonged to. The victim was treated and the officer attempted to locate the dog but could not find the dog described.
ARSONIST IN POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE
Officers on Aug. 4 contacted the suspect, Alejandro Paz, 65 of Socorro, for having a valid arrest warrant for arson. The suspect was arrested and searched and the search resulted in the officer finding a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Paz was questioned about the two arson cases and admitted to them. Paz was charged with possession of a controlled substance and booked at the SCDC.
SUSPECT WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE FOUND DRAG RACING
An officer patrolling the area of California Street on Aug. 4 observed a vehicle exit the El Camino Restaurant at a high rate of speed. The officer performed a traffic stop at Simpson and Neel and when the officer asked the suspect for his paperwork the suspect told the officer he did not have his wallet with him but gave identifying information. When the officer ran the driver’s name through dispatch he was found to have a revoked, invalid driver’s license. The officer placed the suspect under arrest and released the vehicle to the passenger. Mayyar Mohamme Al-Abdili, 21 of Socorro was taken to the Socorro Police Department and charged with two charges of driving while license suspended or revoked and two charges of drag racing, they were transported to SCDC without incident.
FEMALE ARRESTED FOR WARRANT
On Aug. 5 in the area of Alta Vista an officer conducting a warrant round up on behalf of the Compliance officer came in contact with a female subject and confirmed she had two active warrants for her arrest. The female was booked at SCDC for her warrants.
REFRIGERATOR DAMAGE
On Aug. 5 officers responded to California Street and were advised that a suspect entered the victim’s property and damaged a refrigerator. The officer was shown a video of the suspect crawling up to the refrigerator and bending the bottom up to try to gain access. The suspect was identified as Tedmund Apachito, 33 of Magdalena. No items were taken but the refrigerator was damaged. The assisting officer was able to locate Apachito and Apachito was charged with four counts of criminal damage to property.
COCAINE FOUND DURING TRAFFIC STOP
On Aug. 5 during a traffic stop on California Street an officer witnessed the suspect putting a plastic baggie with white powder in his boot. The officer detained the suspect and removed the baggie which contained cocaine. The suspect was arrested and the suspect claimed his friend had used the vehicle and left the baggie. The suspect also advised he had a gun in the vehicle, the gun was located and taken as safe keeping. The suspect, Fernando Ramos-Orozco, 37 of Albuquerque was arrested on two charges of possession of a controlled substance and two charges of turning movements and required signals. The vehicle was towed and Ramos-Orozco was booked at the SCDC.
WARRANT ARREST
Officers located a suspect at their residence on Spring Street on Aug. 5 and when run through NCIC found they had an active warrant. The suspect was arrested and booked at SCDC.
OFFICERS CALLED FOR ARGUMENT
Officers were called to 501 N. California Street to the scene of a verbal argument on Aug. 6. The officers were advised of a female suspect and the parents arrived at the victims work and then an argument occured. The parties were separated and no further altercation took place, the suspect and their family were told to leave the property.
WARRANT ARREST
An officer on Aug. 6 was contacted about a suspect at the court house who was known to have a valid arrest warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the suspect was arrested and booked to SCDC.
TRESPASSING
A victim at an apartment complex on El Camino Real on Aug 6. advised officers that a suspect was at the apartment complex after being trespassed multiple times. The suspect, Katrina Melendrez, 33 of Socorro confirmed she had trespassed. Melendrez was arrested and later released with a citation for trespassing.
STOVE STOLEN FROM HOME
A caller on Terry Street on Aug. 6 advised officers that as he was checking on his home he discovered the home had been entered and the stove from the kitchen was taken. The owner estimated the stove to be valued at $1,200. At this time there are no suspects.
PHONE LEFT AT CITY HALL
Officers were called to City Hall for a phone left at the front desk. The officer obtained the phone that was left and logged it at the police department.
SUSPECT USING DRUGS
Officers were called to an apartment complex on El Camino Real on Aug. 6 for a suspect using drugs. The officers made contact with the suspect, the suspect consented to a search of his person and located a white crystal substance and a blue pill. Both were identified as illegal narcotics. The suspect Nikee Secatero, 38 of Magdalena was arrested for two warrants and two four charges of possession of a controlled substance. Secatero was booked at SCDC.
FEMALE ARRESTED AT PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICE
An officer arrested a female from the probation and parole office on Aug. 7 and the female was incarcerated at SCDC.
VEHICLE WINDOW BROKEN
A victim on Smith Road advised officers on Aug. 7 that an unknown suspect broke the window out of their vehicle parked at Auto Body Shop. There were no witnesses to the incident.
ERRATIC DRIVER
An officer received a call for an erratic driver on I25 on Aug. 7 and located the suspect and witnessed a traffic infraction. After completing a traffic stop the officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage. The officer turned the investigation over to the Socorro County Sheriff’s Department.
