Rumpf steps down as mayor

Richard Rumpf has resigned as mayor of Magdalena after serving in the position since July 2016 following the resignation of Diego Montoya.
Magdalena Mayor Pro Tem Jim Nelson said he will take office on Nov. 12 until the newly elected Mayor, Michael Thompson begins his term in January.
“I’m not anticipating any unpleasant surprises and I think Mayor Rumpf has left the village in a better position than when he started,” Nelson said.
The village meeting that was scheduled for Monday Nov. 10 was cancelled. The next village meeting has been rescheduled for Nov. 24.
