DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIM WANTS TO REMOVE CHARGES
On Dec. 23, a victim came into the police department and told the officer she no longer wanted to press charges against the suspect in a recent domestic violence call. According to the report, the victim still had signs of injury from the domestic violence incident. The victim said that the suspect currently had her cell phone and said he was blackmailing her after an incident during Thanksgiving, when an argument occurred, and she pulled a knife on the suspect. The victim said the suspect was using the incident against her to get her to do what he wanted. The victim was advised that she was not in fear if he was still having her over to his home.
WARRANT ARREST
On Dec. 23 in the area of Highway 85, an officer was assisting another officer on a traffic stop when dispatch advised the driver of the vehicle had an active warrant out for his arrest. According to the report, the subject was not being compliant with the other officer, and so a supervisor had to step in, and the subject was then compliant. The subject was placed under arrest and later booked at SCDC.
SHOPLIFTING
On Dec. 24, in the area of NM Highway one an officer was dispatched to a location for shoplifting. According to the report, when the officer arrived on scene, he met with the store manager, who advised a male suspect had stolen an automotive battery valued at $170. The manager showed the officer the security video, but both were unable to identify the suspect. The manager told the officer he would like a report made on the incident.
FIGHT AT LOCAL BAR
On Dec. 24, in the area of Spring and Eaton officers were called to the scene of a fight at a local bar. According to the report, the officers arrived and located a male who was being assisted by two females. The male appeared to be injured and was bleeding. The officers were told there was a fight with another group of males, and the first male was hit with a rock. The other males left in vehicles. The report states that one vehicle was stopped by an assisting agency, and the officer arrived and saw the sheriff’s deputy giving commands to the second male, but they were not compliant. The officer was able to strike the second male with his forearm and take him to the ground. The second male continued to resist officers and was detained. The second male also had an injury to his head. The report states that the officer was told that the first male had also struck the second male with a rock, causing injury. The second male said he had friends who assisted in the altercation. Both males declined to press charges and were treated for their injuries.
WARRANT ARREST
On Dec. 25 in the area of Arroyo, an officer patrolling the area came in contact with a female who he knew had an active warrant. According to the report, the officer confirmed the warrant and placed the female under arrest. The officer later booked the female at SCDC.
ARGUING WITH CALLER
On Dec. 25 in the area of Padilla, a caller advised that a female walked up and opened her vehicle door and began arguing with the caller. According to the report, the caller advised he drove off but had seen the female on the ground. The female advised she did not know what happened, but knew the caller was driving the vehicle. The report states the female had blood on her and her clothing, and an ambulance was called to the scene to bring the female to the hospital.
FEMALE UNRESPONSIVE
On Dec. 25 in the area of Spring Street, officers were called for a female being unresponsive in her apartment. According to the report, the caller advised she last contacted the female in the apartment on Dec. 23. The officer said they looked in the window and saw the female slumped over and not moving. The report states the officer had to force entry into the apartment due to the door being locked. The officer reported they found the female unresponsive and deceased. The officer did not see any external injuries and called OMI, who processed the body. The body was then taken from the home by a local funeral home, and the landlord was contacted to secure the home.
DAMAGED VEHICLE
On Dec. 26, in the area of Sixth Street, a victim advised that he had arrived at work at 5 a.m. and left work at 7 a.m. According to the report, the victim advised that during that time, his window on his vehicle was damaged, and the officer checked the cameras, but did not see what could have caused the damage to the window.
DECLINING PROTECTION ORDER
On Dec. 26, in the area of the Walkway Apartments, a caller said that while driving on the roadway, a suspect pulled alongside and began yelling and making hand gestures. According to the report, the victim advised she continued to drive and went to a mutual friend's home of the caller and suspect. The suspect arrived shortly after and began again making rude comments to the caller, asking where the other male was and commenting that the caller's son may have guns, but so does the suspect. The caller was advised on how to obtain a protection order, but declined.
CUSTODY ISSUE
On Dec. 26 near Blue Canyon, a mother of a child said that she attempted to drop off her son with the father at his home per the court order. According to the report, the mother said when she arrived to drop the child off, the father was drunk and did not want the child. The mother said she then kept the child. The report states the father then called a few hours later and advised the mother would not turn over the child as per the agreement. The officer called the mother, who said she was out of town and would bring the child the following morning, and the father agreed. The officer documented the incident.
CUSTODY EXCHANGE ISSUE
On Dec. 26 in the area of Hefner, the father of a child advised he was in town to do a custody exchange for his child. According to the report, the father advised the mother of the child was not answering to turn over the child. The officer was able to contact the mother, who said she did not feel comfortable turning over the child. The report states the mother was told she would have to follow the agreement, or charges would be filed. The mother was advised they would have to go to court to make changes to the agreement.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
An officer on Dec. 27, in the area of El Camino Real road, responded to an apartment complex in reference to a female trespassing in multiple residences. According to the report, upon arrival, the officer contacted the female, whom the officer noted seemed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Several residents confirmed she had entered their units, and the female suspect, Shalynn McClellan, age 26 of Socorro, was placed under arrest, charged with one count of criminal tresspass and booked at the jail.
STOLEN VEHICLE REPORTED
On Dec. 27 in the area of Spring Street, an officer on duty responded to a residence regarding a reported stolen vehicle. According to the report, the officer contacted the reporting party, who said that an individual had entered the residence earlier and asked for a ride. The reporting party said they refused the request, and the individual left. The reporting party said later they discovered her vehicle was missing from the residence. The vehicle was described as a gray passenger car and the reporting party also provided a clothing description of the individual last seen before they discovered the vehicle was missing.
POSSIBLE OVERDOSE
On Dec. 27, in the area of Spring Street and Molina Hill, an officer was called to the scene for a male who was possibly overdosing. According to the report, the officers arrived and located the male victim with stab wounds. The victim advised he was doing drugs with the suspect when he was stabbed, unprovoked. The victim was taken to SGH for treatment. The reports state that the officers went to the suspect’s home and saw blood on the front porch and water from the hose that was used to try to wash the blood away. The officers were not able to locate the suspect. The officers then met with the victim and hospital staff, and the staff advised that the victim had sustained several stab wounds and an artery had been severed. The victim was taken to Albuquerque for treatment. The report states that the officers were able to contact family members of the suspect for a stolen vehicle. The suspect was listed as a suspect for the stolen vehicle. While officers were working on paperwork for the arrest of the suspect, they were contacted by NMSP in the southern district. The NMSP officer said that the suspect in the assault was deceased from a crash, and the stolen car was recovered.
WARRANT ARREST RELEASED FROM CUSTODY
On Dec. 28, in the area of Bullock and El Camino Real, an officer on patrol made contact with an individual who had an active warrant. According to the report, the individual was taken into custody and was transported to the SGH for medical clearance, but was only cleared for incarceration at a detention facility with medical personnel. The report states the individual was transported to the detention center, who advised they were not able to accept her due to not having medical personnel employed at the facility. Reports state the individual was released from custody.
POSSIBLY STOLEN BICYCLE FOUND
On Dec. 28, in the area of Hannah Place, an officer was dispatched to a residence regarding a possible stolen bicycle. According to the report, the officers contacted an adult female who showed them a red TREK bicycle that had been left in her backyard, possibly thrown over the fence from an alleyway. A records check did not indicate the bicycle was reported stolen, but the bicycle was taken into police custody for safekeeping and transported to the police department for tagging.
ITEMS REMOVED FROM SHED
On Dec. 28, in the area of Highway 60, an officer responded to an open-line 911 call and contacted a property caretaker who reported several individuals fled after removing items from a shed. According to the report, a vehicle without license plates was found on the scene with the stolen property inside. A female returned briefly and provided limited information, attempting to retrieve the vehicle for a friend. The vehicle was towed, according to the report.
WARRANT ARREST
On Dec. 29, at the Adult Probation and Patrol office, an officer was dispatched to the office for a male with a warrant. According to the report, the male was taken into custody based on an active warrant. The subject was transported to the police department for booking paperwork and then transferred to the detention center and booked for the warrant.
HARRASSMENT
On Dec. 29, in the area of Center Street, an officer responded to a report of harassment. According to the report, the reporting party stated that he had ended a relationship with his girlfriend and had been receiving unwanted text messages despite attempting to block the other party. He showed the officer messages requesting no further contact. The officer advised the reporting party of available options, including seeking a protection order, and advised an attempt would be made to contact the other party to inform them to cease contact.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
On Dec. 29 in the area of Chaparral, an officer responded to a report of property damage. According to the report, the reporting party stated he found the air conditioner that he lent to his employee damaged near his driveway after a dispute with the former employee. He had also received concerning text messages and requested documentation only and did not wish to pursue charges.
FOUND DRUG PARAPHENALIA
On Dec. 29, in the area of North Sixth Street, an officer was dispatched to the police department regarding found drug paraphernalia. According to the report, while at a local store, a female reported locating a folded piece of us currency near her parked vehicle and observed a white powdery substance inside. The item was turned over to the police, and based on training and experience, officers believed the substance to be a controlled substance. The report states that a presumptive field test was conducted and returned a positive result for cocaine. The report states the substance was logged into evidence, and video surveillance was reviewed; however, no suspect was identified.
ITEMS MISSING
On Dec. 30, at the Park Street Apartments, an officer was dispatched to the location for a man wanting to speak to an officer about some items missing from his apartment. According to the report, the reporting party told officers he had been in the hospital for a few days, and when he returned to his apartment, he could not locate his bible, medication, and cell phone. The reporting party told officers he had left his apartment key with a trusted friend and did not want to file charges at this time, but wanted a police report made. Officers advised the reporting party an information report would be made.
BACKPACK STOLEN
On Dec. 31, in the area of Medley Street, an officer received a call for service at the location. According to the report, upon arrival, the officer made contact with the reporting party who said that an unidentified male had gotten into his unattended vehicle and stolen a backpack from inside it. The reporting party told the officer there was a handgun inside the backpack along with two pairs of wireless headphones. The report states the officer had the owner sign a theft declaration so that the handgun could be entered into the stolen property database. The officer attempted to identify the suspect but was unable to do so.
THREATENING TEXT MESSAGES
On Dec. 31, in the area of Center Street, an officer was advised by dispatch to meet the reporting party at the Socorro Police station to talk about filing a report. According to the report, the officer made contact with the reporting party who advised he had been receiving threatening text messages from his mother that were threats towards his ex-wife. The reporting party advised that his ex-wife was in the vehicle. The ex-wife stepped out of the vehicle and spoke with officers, and asked if a report could be done about the messages, just in case something ends up happening. The officers advised an informational report would be made.
CITY TRASH CAN BURNED
On Dec. 31, in the area of Gianera, an officer was dispatched to an address to speak with the reporting party about his trash can being burned to the ground. According to the report, the officer observed the city trash can burned all the way to the ground and the reporting party told officers that he thinks someone may have placed fireworks inside of the trash can causing it to burn. The report states that the reporting party wanted a police report done as it is city property and the officer advised the reporting party an informational report would be made.
DOG STRUCK BY VEHICLE
On Dec. 31, in the area of the old Dollar Tree, an officer patrolling the area of Highway 85 when he noticed a dog that had possibly been struck by a vehicle. According to the report, the officer contacted Chief A. Garcia and Lt. Gonzales and advised them of the dog's condition. The officer was advised to put the dog down so it would not suffer. The dog was put down of and disposed of properly.
STOLEN BIKE
On Dec. 31, in the area of Park Street, an officer was called to a residence to take a report for a stolen bike. The report states that the victim said that his bike was last seen at the residence before he left for work. The victim stated that he did not have any identifying serial numbers for the bike.
