George L. Dean

George L. Dean, 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2026, in a most gentle, peaceful way.

George was born in Lovington, NM on August 15, 1930 to Robert Harold and Sally Ruth Dean. He was raised on a ranch in Bingham, NM and helped his father manage the Bingham General Store.

As a child he witnessed the birth of the atomic age from the store porch. He graduated from Carrizozo High School and attended New Mexico State University graduating with a BBA degree. It was there; he met and married Ernestine Rush. Together, they had three children. They raised their family in the South Valley of Albuquerque. Upon his retirement from Hydro Conduit Corp, they moved to Elephant Butte and traveled extensively.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ernestine, (mother of his children), second wife Gwen, and the love of his life, Bonnie Graham, brothers-in-law, Tom Zimmerman and Preston Lindsay and nephew Gary Brown. He is survived by his children, Melanie Hill of Searcy, AR, Cynthia Dean of San Antonio, NM and Michael R.H. Dean of Port Orchard, WA. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jaclyn Hill Adkins and James Hill III (Jamie) of Searcy, AR, five great-grandsons, Braeden and Cooper Adkins and James IV, Joshua and Jonathan Hill. He is survived by his sisters, Connie Dean Lindsay and Sally Ann Bickel (Bill), niece, Marsha Brown and numerous cousins and extended family.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Socorro, NM where a service will take place at a later date. He is also survived by others very near and dear to him, Susann Graham Mikkelson, Ken and Peggy Hartley, Jody Apache and his church family and friends.

Special thanks to his team of "caregivers": Dr. Colleen Sells, Home Health Professionals: Edward, Crystal, Matt and Melissa, Dr. Jesse Batchelor, Dr. Cecil Sandoval, Goforth Chiropractic, Laura and Vernon Leseberg, and the entire Socorro General Hospital ER Staff and Professionals.
