Alamo basketball

The Cougars finished the regular season at 19-5 overall and an undefeated 8-0 for first place in their district. The Lady Cougars finished 14-10 overall and were also undefeated for first place in their district at 6-0.2/19 V girls W 62-37 at MVCS.

2/20 JV boys and girls at the Magdalena JV Tourney.

2/25-3/02 District Tournament week. The boys and girls teams have byes for the early rounds of the tournament because of their perfect records in district; they only have to play in the district championship games. Lady Cougars play at home on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. Boys play at home on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. Their opponents are yet to be decided, as the other teams will work their way through the district playoffs.

3/6-7 First Round of State, games TBD.

3/13-16 State Tournament, games TBD.

Magdalena basketball

The Magdalena girls are 22-5 overall for the season, and third in their very competitive district at 5-3. Quemado is second and Cliff is still first place. 

The Steers finished with a 17-9 overall record for the regular season and a 8-1 first place record in their district.

2/20 JV girls & boys at home for Magdalena JV Tournament.

2/23-28 District Tournament. 

The boys played against Cliff on Feb. 23 in Hatch for a major third match to decide the first seed for the district tournament. The Steers won that game 47-43. 

The Steers now wait until Saturday, Feb. 28, to play their district championship game at home at 6 p.m., most likely facing the #2 Cliff Cowboys once again.

The girls played Reserve at home for round 2 of their tournament and won 63-33.

The girls played on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Quemado. The winner of that game advanced to play in Cliff against the top seeded Cowgirls on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m.

3/11-14 State Championship.

SHS Lady Warriors basketball

The Lady Warriors finished 3-24 for the season and fourth in their district at 0-6. 

2/19 V at home vs. Cobre, district: L 56-15.

2/20 JV at Magdalena Tournament.

2/24 V at Cobre for district playoffs: L 59-27.

SHS Warriors basketball

The Warriors finished 6-18 for the season and third place in their district at 2-4.

2/19 V at home vs. Cobre, L 70-45.

2/20 JV at Magdalena Tournament.

2/24 V at Hot Springs for district playoffs: L 46-41.

City of Socorro youth volleyball camp

The camp will run from March 10 to April 18. 8-10 year-olds practice skills on Tuesdays, 5:30-7 p.m. 11-12 age group will be on Thursdays, 5:30-7 p.m.
