PHOTO GALLERY: This week in sports, Jan. 5-11!

Monday, Jan. 5: Lady Braves at home against the Los Lunas Lady Tigers. SMS seventh graders lost 19-10 while the eighth graders won 25-15.

Tuesday, Jan. 6: Ramah Mustangs at Magdalena. Both of Magdalena's JV teams as well as both of their varsity teams beat Ramah that day.

Thursday, Jan. 8:  Aztec and Cleveland H.S. (Rio Rancho) boys' wrestling teams visited SHS. Cleveland beat Aztec first and then went on to beat the Warriors, but Kade McNeil earned 6 team points for the Warriors with a pin in his match. Warrior Estevan Robles also won his bout with a pin.

Friday, Jan. 9: Lady Warrior Invite.  These 4 Lady Warriors all placed in today's tournament, in their weight classes: Maria Ruiz Jaquez, 2nd; Kalena Vanlandingham, 3rd; Arasely Moreno, 3rd; Tatum Rosales, 3rd.

Saturday, Jan. 10:  Sammy Vivian Invite boys wrestling tournament.  Five Socorro wrestlers placed in this tournament: Kade McNeil, Champion; Estevan Robles, 3rd; Marius Lucero, 3rd; Kason Vanlandingham, 4th; Julian Aldrich, 4th (shown facing off against his teammate, Jeremiyah Moya). "Overall the guys took 6th with 96 points out of 15 teams," Coach James McNeil said.

Saturday, Jan. 10: To'hajiilee at Alamo for varsity basketball games. Alamo Lady Cougars lost a close one 50-48. The Cougars won their game 88-79.

Sunday, Jan. 11: Warrior Warfare junior wrestling tournament at SHS.  About 21 teams competed at Socorro High School yesterday, packed the parking lots and had bouts going from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m. The Socorro Warrior Jr. wrestling team finished sixth with 186.5 points.
