Socorro County

Commissioners

The Socorro County Board of Commissioners sets policy for the governance of Socorro County and is responsible for all financial management of Socorro County operations. The board regularly meets at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Socorro County Annex Building, 198 Neel Ave. in Socorro. Second meeting at 5 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday, only if needed.

Socorro City Council

Regular Socorro City Council meetings meet at 6 p.m.,the first and third Tuesday of the month at City Hall, 111 School of Mines Road, Socorro.

Magdalena Village

The Magdalena Village Board of Trustees meets on the second and fourth Monday at 5 p.m. in Village Hall, 108 N. Main Street, Magdalena.

Socorro Electric Co-op

The Socorro Electric Co-op Board meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m., at 310 Abeta Ave., in Socorro.

El Camino Real Housing Authority

The El Camino Real Housing Authority meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Socorro Village

Abeytas-Sabinal Special Zoning District

The Abeytas-Sabinal Special Zoning District holds a monthly meeting in the Sabinal Community Center. March meeting TBA. All are invited to attend.

Magdalena Schools

The Magdalena School Board will meet at 6 p.m., on the third Tuesday of the month in the Magdalena Municipal School Library.

Socorro School

Wednesday, Apr. 08: The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is hosting the next “Be Here” Day on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and Socorro Consolidated Schools is excited to participate! We want to hit the ground running with this rollout on our first day back from Spring Break. Our goal for this event is 100% student attendance across the district. To build excitement, our slogan for the day will be: “Let’s Unite, Blue and White. We are better when we are together. We are encouraging all students and staff to show their spirit by wearing Warrior gear or blue and white attire.

The Socorro School Board meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the board meeting room at the district office.

Rotary

New meeting schedule: Rotary Club meets at noon on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Jackson Ranch Steakhouse, 1123 NW Frontage Road, Socorro.

APAS

The Animal Protective Association of Socorro provides vouchers to assist low-income citizens of Socorro and Catron counties with spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs. The group meets at 5:15 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, second floor of Socorro Public Library, 401 Park Street. Visit www.socorroapas.org for more information.

Lions Club

Socorro County Historical Society

The Socorro County Historical Society meets at the Hammel Museum at 500 6th Street. Meetings will be the second Tuesday each month at 4:30 p.m. Hammel Museum open to the public on the first Saturday each month at 9 a.m. Please call 505-480-3468 for more information.

Socorro Old Car Club

Socorro old car club has meetings the 2nd Thursday of each month, at 6:30 pm in the Cafe of the old livestock sale barn at 20 Duke Lane, Lemitar. We start the meeting with a potluck meal and then plan activities. This year’s activities will include old car tours around the community and model T driving lessons.

SCOPE Health Council

The SCOPE board meets every second Tuesday at 1 p.m. Visit scopehealthcouncil.com for info and local resources. The meeting takes place at 215 C, Fisher Ave., Socorro.

Save Our Bosque

Task Force

Catholic Daughters

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall on Highway 60 West. Corporate communion is conducted the second Sunday of the month at the 10 a.m. Mass.

Veterans for Peace

Chapter 63 welcomes new members. Non-veterans can join too. Work for peace with us.

ONGOING EVENTS

Spokes

Spokes is a free service for the Socorro community where anyone can get help with bike repairs and adjustments and learn how to work on their bikes. Refurbished loaner bikes may be available as well. Mondays 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 107 1/2 California Street, behind the Puerto Seguro thrift store (go up the ramp).

Exercise, Yoga and Meditation

Free yoga classes at the Socorro Public Library, 401 Park Street: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m., Wednesdays 9:15 a.m. Meditation sessions Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. Morning Exercise Group 8:30 a.m. on Mondays.

Socorro Tennis

The Socorro Tennis Association plays tennis at Sedillo Park on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 a.m. You do not need to be a member of STA to participate. Just show up and play.

Pickleball

Pickleball at Sedillo Park on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Weather issues, meet at Tech gym when available. Come join in on the fun, anyone is welcome! For info, search Pickleball Pals on WhatsApp.

Socorro Storehouse

For anyone experiencing food insecurity in Socorro County, the Storehouse is open from noon to 2 p.m. every Thursday except major holidays. 519 S. Hwy 85, Socorro. Please bring a picture ID and birthdates of everyone who lives in the household. For more information call 575-835-2079.

Food Pantry Open

The Mid-West New Mexico C.A.P. Food Pantry is open 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Wednesday. For more information call 575-835-0899.

Magdalena Senior Center

The senior center is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 500 Ninth St. off South Main in Magdalena.

Farmers Market

Back to winter hours: Socorro Farmers’ Market will be held indoors at the Socorro Youth Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Join neighbors and the community for fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, music, and more.

Magdalena Farmers Market

Magdalena Farmer’s Market is closed for the winter season. Please keep your eyes open for any special pop-ups or holiday events.

NM Tech Bike Club

The New Mexico Tech Bike Club hosts a Wednesday afternoon do-it-yourself bike repair clinic. This is a free service for the entire Socorro community. Various bike repairs are handled, such as flat tires, brake problems, and shifting issues. Also, bikes are lent for free to students and community members.
